• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi guys, me again. No I'm not suicidal, I'm just turning into a misanthrope, aka, I'm sick of humanity. I don't know why God saves us, let alone made us in the first place. We're so rotten, even the best of us, if there is such a thing. Even among so called Christians, there is always hatred and judgment. If you don't agree with my church, you're bad, an enemy of God, or a Muslim, or gay, or republican or Democrat. You really think in the grand scheme of things, this stuff really matters to God, when ALL OF US deserve damnation? Doesn't matter if you're Hittler or Moses, we're all sinners who don't deserve forgiveness, which is something so few "Christians" get.

What ever happened to love you're enemies or judge not lest ye be judged? Why does even the most enlightened societies glorify violence to the point where it is indoctrinated as entertainment? Fighting is "cool", war is "glorious", Zorro smiles as he impales people to rousing music, and so on. Or we're all for freedom of expression, but if you say something we don't like, they should shut up. And again, this is in so called "civilized" societies. And ofcourse then there's sex. Even among Christians, how many actually even try to obey God and wait til marriage? How many of us keep from looking at woman like pieces of meat? Certainly not me. I wish God had not created sex. I mean, how many problems would not exist without it? Is it really worth or of the evil that has arisen from it, like rape and objectification, STD's, and unwanted pregnancy and such? Even in my so called Christian family, almost everyone has had sex before marriage, even my not yet 18 year old niece is, as my mom told me, is going to. My mom, who is the strongest Christian(does that word even have any meaning anymore?) I know, doesn't really take that teaching seriously, like it's a command that God doesn't really take seriously. God we're so rotten. How can God stand us? How am I supposed to live here when humanity, including myself, disgusts me?

For all of your disgust God has grief that people He loves busy themselves with so many hurtful things. He loves those people, in spite of what they are doing.

It's also a bit disheartening when the Christian community falls short. My choice was to be someone more real than that in my faith, to live out a better model. Hopefully, I have achieved that in some ways.

Yes, we are pretty disgusting! But that's why Jesus died for us, so that instead of our filthy rags we can be clothed in the righteousness of Christ. We all mess up, but we are all forgiven... every time.
Perhaps you could ask God to show you how He sees His creation, the beauty and potential in each one of us. He loves us, He loves you, and He wants to pour His love through you to His hurting and damaged children.

dont let people make you fall
keep your eyes on the cross, remember that God sent His Son to die a bloody and painful death to save our butts
remember that He loves you and that the sins of others have nothing to do with you other then to bring you down if you let them

i separate myself from people sometimes ~ Christians and nonChristians alike ~ i take a breather from them because what you said is the truth ~ i also have to stop watching the news because thats a big downer to

pray and i mean PRAY

dont try to make sense out of what goes on around you, remember what the Lord told Job ~ you dont no squat about what goes on ;)

"He is not here; He has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where He lay."

Perhaps the most triumphal words ever spoken.Where hope met fulfillment. When our Lord rose from the grave that could not hold Him.And then we turn to see the latest tragedy that has happened on the news. The neighbors house was robbed last night. That girl at school is pregnant. An earthquake hits,& tens of thousands are dead. Why?If He is risen, why? Why murder? Why hatred? Why homelessness? The whys don't seem to stop,do they? It is hard to see how God is glorified in this moral swamp we call the world. There was a friend of Jesus named Lazarus.Jesus was told by messenger that his friend who He loved was sick. And Jesus stayed where He was.For 2 more days He stayed where He was. Finally He said to His disciples "Let's go back".His disciples told Him that if He went back,He might be stoned. But they went on anyway. He told His disciples "Lazarus is dead,& for your sake I am glad that I was not there,so that you might believe".What? Jesus let the friend he loved die so His disciples would believe? How messed up is that? When Jesus & the disciples were close to their destination,Jesus met Martha, one of the sisters of Lazarus.Let's listen in.

“Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
Martha answered, “I know he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” “Yes, Lord,” she told him, “I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”

Jesus continued toward town, where He was met by Mary.Let's listen in again.

When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled.“Where have you laid him?” he asked.
“Come and see, Lord,” they replied.
Jesus wept.

You see,Jesus was also brokenhearted over the tragedies of this life.He Knew already what He was about to do,& He knew that even after seeing this, there were those who would still refuse to believe. Let's move along.

Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. “Take away the stone,” he said.
“But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.”
Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”

Did you miss that?Did you see what Jesus said? "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" All of us who are children of God have that ache in our heart. We are ready for it to be over.We are ready for Jesus to come again. We are tired of waiting.Maybe this is not what we are conscious of 24 hours a day.Maybe it only visits us occasionally. But that ache is there. And what was it that Jesus said? "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God!" Yes,I took some license & added that exclamation point. There was no punctuation in the Greek language in those days,& I believe that Jesus was very emphatic when He made this life changing statement. So what happens next? don't everyone shout it out yet :)

So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me.I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”
When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.
Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

Was I trying to cheer you up?Yes,to be honest I was trying to cheer both you & me up with this. I know that my additions are probably very lacking, but what I want you to remember the next time an earthquake hits,or a house gets robbed,or a young teenage girl is found to be pregnant,or any other of the millions of tragedies that happen in this fallen world, are the words of Jesus saying," “Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?”Our father in Heaven is still in control.Jesus is still on the throne,& as messed up as this world is,our God is going to bring everything to account for His glory.Do not stop believing.God bless you. :)

I couldnt agree more. Ive been undergoing treatment for "depression" for a year now but im not depressed. I want to die, yes...but not because im sad..but because Im tired of sinning and tired of disappointing God no matter how hard I try. I pray for death to come to me every single night...and still nothing. If God has a plan he better make it good.

Then you have not been given the real gospel which is all about our secure, guilt free relationship with the Godhead, a relationship of intimacy based on what has been done for us, not what we do or don't do for God. Bad teaching so often results in poor mental health.

But earth is our home, one day to be fully restored. Meantime we begin to live as transformed people, an advanced guard for what will happen throughout the cosmos. That gives me plenty to live for, being part of God's redemption of our planet with the assured hope of better to come.

Resurrecting this thread, no pun intended, I can't get it out of my head that I wish all of humanity would just die. We're nothing but evil, I don't know why God would even want to save us. How am I supposed to love others when I can't stand humanity?

Begin with how God sees His creation - "For God so loved...." Even, while we were still enemies Christ died.."

Taken from my daily Blog Site, today's entry.

So today I will reveal my final thoughts on this subject and gracefully move on. Another huge contributing factor of suffering is the common practice of lying to please others and ourselves, by means of defending and hiding characteristics that we hold of ourselves as being inappropriate or wrong. What feels at the time as just being a little white lie over a life time holds much more profound repercussions. Causing the mind to be out of alignment with who we truly are, as mentioned in yesterdays blog.

By lying to ourselves and others, we are jumping our own ship in a way; not loving ourselves. We spend a lifetime trying to mold, condition, align ourselves to gain acceptance from others. By nature this takes out the most important ingredient needed to achieve what we so disparately want, and that is our love consciousness for ones self. When we learn this about ourselves, this need to distract ourselves from the true person that we are falls away. This is why you hear so often people say you can't love someone else, before you start loving yourself first. In other words, you can't give what you don't already have currently in your own reality.

As stated in earlier blogs, YOU can only attract what you ARE. Once you have Honestly achieved this natural flow of respect and love towards yourself and others, you will find that all expectations placed outside of ourselves, and reasons we fell unfulfilled within our relationships - just disappears. Contentment with ones self is achieved with love of self, and romance is just an added bonus - not a necessity.

Lastly, when battling suffering is no longer the focus, the act of taking time to give of yourself becomes apparent. Once you have found love of self, the desire to share your new found experience is born. The true awareness of love naturally puts you in a state of giving, having the magnitude to reach above and beyond all differences.

Bottom line is, freedom from our addiction to suffering is conquered by our ability to shift our focus and perspective coming from a place of love then _______(insert your state of lack).
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Exercise.

Picture yourself looking into a mirror...

Now reach deep inside that reflection to get in touch with what really makes up your image and how you see yourself. Then realize that YOU are an incredible being with purpose, and God given talents that ultimately define who you are, while creating a live of joy which fills your wallets at the same time!

We were not born to SUFFER! God did not intend for us to spend most of our waking hours at jobs that keep us miserable, away from what matters most, our family performing job functions that's not aligned with YOUR purpose. He gave us a powerful mind with beautiful gifts to live and create a life of bliss. However, we have been conditioned from birth to follow everyone else steps to success, or blue print for life, rather then following and developing our OWN! Our world is out of alignment from what was intended, due to many factors but none that are out of our own control, or circumstance. We have to take control of this ship before it sinks. I will stop here as I have completely gone off in another direction, which I will save for another day....

God Bless...

We live in a fallen world with or without hope. As a Christian we can see Gods goodness around us in many ways. But we also see the nasty stuff to, and that's why Jesus came, so that bad pattern will be interrupted, firstly by our living out of different set of values and lifestyle, and finally when Jesus returns and puts matters right once again. That's our hope.

Apart from Jesus there is no such basis for a hope as grand as that.

I wouldn't mind being "called home" myself.

In the bible, it's all these great stories and Jesus saying to go and sin no more after they have been saved.

I keep doing stupids in this life and I don't get it.

If anyone has a good reading from the bible on a sinning Christian, could you share?

Thanks.

We all are sinners and have fallen short. Which is why Jesus paid the ultimate price on the cross. No that does not give us a free pass to live "a life of sin". However it does give comfort in knowing that I'm not perfect, and I will miss the "mark", which is where the word sin comes from - to "miss" the mark.

In other words, pick yourself up, learn from your life lessons and continue growing in faith and knowledge. It's time we quit beating ourselves up, move forward by focus ing on what's really important in life, and act always coming from a place of love. Then you will never question where you stand, or who you stand for..
