  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Indonesia is a beautiful country, with various culture and race.
and likely going to be Arabs soon :p

Recently I realize how tough Christians survives, that I ignore before, after I live in other country, and see from different angle.

I heard a lot of news come from cities in Indonesia going to practice Islamic way. So sad, but nothing can do.

Are there any Indonesian in this forum?

You've mistaken "Arab" for "Muslim". Remember that Arab is an ethnicity, while Muslim is an adherent to Islam. Your post looks very racist in that case.

Although I don't think highly of Islam, Indonesia has tried to follow Turkey's secular approach to some avail. It is far more liberal than most Muslim countries, thus I don't think you should worry so much about Islam in Indonesia (though there will always be a minority of idiots).

The Middle East is a whole different story...

 hi Kurama..
what I'm trying to say here was,
for an Arab not necessarily to be a Muslim, as we aware there are some Arabs are Christians, or pagans or etc.
but its Muslim's necessity to be "like" Arab.

Although I don't think highly of Islam, Indonesia has tried to follow Turkey's secular approach to some avail.
give me some example

It is far more liberal than most Muslim countries, thus I don't think you should worry so much about Islam in Indonesia (though there will always be a minority of idiots).
please note that Indonesia is not Islamic country though it has Muslim's majority population.
honestly, the Muslims in Indonesia is not as much as what reported. There are a phenomenon, where the pagans/atheists in Indonesia have to write "Islam" in their ID card religion column.
or some Muslims who have secretly convert from Islam to other religion never change the religion column in their ID card. for they scared to invite trouble. Despite this phenomenon, Indonesia is most Muslims majority anyway.
some place in Indonesia has more than one mosque in one region plus megaphone in every mosque...can you imagine? 5 times a day... (no no, sometimes more than 5 times), how noisy is it? it would be OK for me, if the church allowed to do the same..at least to ring their bell every sunday morning.. or at least, all Christians allowed to worship their God in churches, instead of stoned the church and makes the Christians do the mass in the street.

and also, Muslim sunni in Indonesia have torture the other Muslims(shia, ahmadiyah, dll).

The Middle East is a whole different story...

I am - however I am no Christian as my username would suggest.
I WAS a Christian (more specifically, Catholic), and I know that Christians are a minority, as Muslims make up for the majority. I was raised as a Catholic but over time became an Agnostic... Which most likely would be even harder to survive as. (Most people around here don't even know what "Agnostic" means when I tell them I'm one...)

So yes, I'm an Agnostic, raised in an environment of Catholics, that is in a country with mostly Muslim people.
