  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So let's talk about food, cravings and nutrition.

I seem to have lost my taste for pop, which I am excessively happy about. However, I spend a lot of time thinking about hard boiled eggs and beans. :D I bought ingredients for 3 vegetarian meals.... with beans. :D Anyone else mystified by their own behavior? I am glad though that I am craving healthy things, I think it is the "wisdom of the body" at work here ...

Hi there,

My eating habits have changed a lot in the last 4-5 weeks. I would have considered myself addicted to food, especially fast food, and now I can hardly eat. I make myself eat! It's good because I started out at 233 and now I've lost 3 pounds. The doctor said it was ok as long as I eat nutritious meals at least 4 times a day (smal meals)....I have to make myself eat..that's the change!

Thanks,
Linda

I'm at the point of making myself eat, most of the time... oh, and drink. The only 'craving' I have atm is for apple crumble! Stuff it, I'll just buy some tonight. Oh, and I'm drinking heaps of hot Ribena. Do you have Ribena over there? It's a blackcurrant syrup... very yummy hot :) And it's winter over here, so it makes up for the loss of hot coffee and chocolate!

My stomach is rebelling at the idea of chocolate (sob!), lollies, chips... and my whole digestive system fills with gas if I drink pop (soft drink, over here). Hmmm... must dig out some nuts, or I'll start feeling sick again..

My cravings vary from week to week. One that seems to hang around is chips and salsa. I used to be addicted to hot tea but I haven't had much of a desire for it. I have been dying for some sweet tea from Chic-fil-a and Starbucks, my doc said I can have a small glass in the second trimester which is almost here yay!

I have been totally unwanting salad...which is like my favorite food...no fruits or veggies have been appealing...until today when I was feeding Bernadette strawberries...and had one...oh my goodness was it good!!!!

I used to have eggs a lot for breakfast- they are totally inedible.

I have to eat all day long or I start to feel sick.

I get up have my coffee and a thing of cottage cheese. At 10:00 I have string cheese. At noon I have lunch. At 3:00 I have a handful of nuts. At 5:00ish I have dinner. After the kids are in bed I make popcorn. ANd then right before I go to bed I take my icky, disgusting vitamins and have a thing of yogurt. I have been trying to drink lots of water...which I am very bad about....

The hardest thing fo rme is consuming whole grains in greater amount. I had been on the South Beach Diet for most of the last year, and ate grains only with one meal a day. I felt like I should really be eating more while I'm pregnant, but it is hard....becuase I so don't want to gain weight....

Oh you should drink red raspberry leaf tea! They have some great teas out there for pregnancy to "help" things.... I'm going to drink them when I make it to 12 weeks :)
To "help" things? Where do you get this tea? A lot of teas turn me off these days, my cravings are mostly for good ole southern sweet tea which I was addicted to until I had to cut out caffeine once I got pregnant. Chick-fil-a has the best!

Use decaf tea bags to make it don't let it steep as long as normal, decaf tea gets this funny taste if you let it sit in the hot water more than 2-3 minutes.

Yes, red raspberry leaf is a uterine toner. It helps your uterus prepare for birth. There are other herbs that do similar functions, there are a lot of pregnancy teas you can buy at stores or online.
