I'm Homeless But I'm Happy

Whats up guys? OK check out my situation. I don't have a house or apartment 2 live in. I stay in city parks and sleep in my car. I use a car power inverter for electricity. I also use outlets in parks for electricity. I still deal with women ( more on that later ) I'm homeless but I'm happy. Hopefully I can inspire people who make low income.

Now some may say that this is insanity, but I say its pleasure. How? u may ask. Because I don't have any bills 2 pay. Its a headache having 2 give your hard earned cash to landlords and utility companies. I keep a fair amount of money plus I don't have to worry about having to wait too long to save up just in case of a car emergency. I get to have fun everyday because I can shop how I want to, eat what I want to, and go hang out like I want to at clubs, bars, and any other social events.

My family seem to have a problem with this. They say that this is foolish and dangerous. They feel that I can easily get killed by staying in parks and sleeping in a car. Well here is how I feel, my family never really cared too much about me anyway. My parents didn't raise me right, I wasn't eating properly when I was a child. They didn't spend a whole lot of time with me. They didn't show me how to be a good person. They just didn't care.

And guess what, my dad is a millionaire. And he's a deacon in the church. He just never cared about supporting me financially even when I was a child. I know that was messed up, but I'm a let God deal with him with that situation. I hardly even go 2 my parents house. I honestly wouldn't care if he died.

Now pay attention to something. If u notice, I'm not complaining about how my dad doesn't help me out. I'm simply handling my situaution on my own even though it may be extreme. I'm aware that my dad could have just gave me some money to go to college or he could have just gave me a job at his business, but I'm not complaining. I'm just trying 2 see why they are criticizing me for the way I live. I don't even talk about this situaution with my parents, I just know they don't like how I'm living because my Grandma told me. I don't even answer the phone if my Mom or dad calls me.

I only make about $1,500 a month, so I don't want a house or apartment because the bills will eat up my money. I wanna know how do u guys feel about me living like this. U got to think about it, giving all your money to landlords and utility companies is misery. Being able to spend your money how u want to is pure pleasure.

I don't have any desire for a luxury house and I also don't have any desire
for people accepting and respecting me. The reason I say this is because I know that some people will think that I'm foolish 4 this. But I don't care. What does another person's perspective of me have 2 do with my happiness. Also, God has blessed me with true friends who don't mind the way I live.

Please tell me how u all feel about my lifestyle.

That's interesting. You must have found out some secret about not having a place to sleep that no one else has figured out then, because I certainly don't remember being homeless as a great experience. I remember the trouble of finding somewhere to sleep, I remember the looks I would get from people who pass by, I remember the feeling of hopelessness I would have every moment of every day.

How do you shower? I'm sure that no one at your workplace wants a smelly bum working with them. How do you get online? With no luxury, you certainly don't have a computer. Where do you put your clothing?

U know for someone who's on a Christian web site, u sure seem like a cold hearted person. Not that it would matter because I don't live to impress people. U do know that there are gyms with showers right. And didn't I tell u that I hang out at coffee houses that have free Wi-Fi internet. I keep my clothes in my car.

When my roommate left when I was 19 I thought I was going to be homeless and I didn't make much more than you (about $1800/month). Fortunately I lived in a cheap city and found a small apartment for about $400 and utilities weren't much. I'm really not sure I could handle living out of my car, but I find your story inspiring. I don't have much of a desire to live lavishly either. Right now I live in a trailer that I'm buying for $8000, and my car cost $8600 so maybe you're on to something. I can't stand to ad any monthly payments as more than half of my income right now is disposable and I want to keep it that way. I am a bit of a social person though. I believe we were created for community and I need to surround myself with a handful of good friends to be happy. I am curious, like NT said, how you handle hygiene issues or go to the bathroom? I work in a factory and we have showers in the bathrooms for people that don't want to go home hot and sweaty, but I really couldn't see myself using those all the time, and in my drinking days I learned park equipment doesn't make a good toilet when the fuzz is around.

2. what is a car power inverter? how does it work?

It turns your cigarette lighter into a 110v outlet. I picked one up at a truckstop awhile back to keep my laptop powered on a trip to Ohio. I think it cost around $35. I learned the hard way that they'll run your battery down in a heartbeat, even if you're idling. I had to charge the laptop while driving and it would be charged by the time I got to a truckstop with WiFi.

It looks something like this:

Just because I'm a person of faith doesn't mean I have to be all lovey-dovey. Especially when you're talking highly about a lifestyle I had to live through through myself which was one of my worst experiences in life and speaking of it as an enjoyable lifestyle. Though you do have one thing I didn't when I was homeless: money.

So let me guess, you're one of those uptight Christians who doesn't believe in happiness and having a good time. U might wanna change your character because God doesn't like strict and miserable people. I ain't trying to start nothing with u, but u have no right to hate me because I'm enjoying my homeless life and u didn't enjoy yours. If I got 2 be homeless to have money then then thats what I have 2 do. Being broke is miserable

You ask a question like that and then get all "oh you didn't tell me what I want to hear" on a guy who answers your Q . . .. I ain't saying anything about your lifestyle but your thread is weak.

Funny how u think how u can insult me. You're nothing to me. But anyways, it ain't about me wanting people to tell me what I wanna hear, I'm just asking people there view on it to start a conversation. If someone doesn't agree, then they shouldn't act like they hate me or that they are above me. If someone disagrees with my lifestyle, then they should give their opinion in a respectful way

I will agree it does seem rather dangerous. There is nothing wrong with living a nomadic lifestyle but perhaps you should invest in a mobile home/trailer. You could find one for cheap or even free.

There are people called Freegans this people only buy what they need and will often dumpster dive for food behind grocery stores, restaurants etc. Were talking food that is still wrapped and has just been thrown out at the end of the day or its expired by one or two days. Get their clothing from estate sales , thrift shops etc. They will often live with at least 5 roommates (multiple families) which cuts down rent/mortgage bills. Some of them will even squat where they fix up an abandoned building and they make it free housing for people. Many of them do not work or will work only part time.

You seem live for the most part a simple lifestyle and good for you. So many people work work work and barely have time to do what they want to do. Yes having to pay bills etc does take away a huge chunk of someone pay. I have read of people who cut their hours and though they earn less and may have to cut back on certain things decide what they really want. Many say the pleasure of being able to do what they want more often and more time to spend with family and friends is well worth it. If your happy then that’s all that should matter.

No, I'm just realistic. In fact, most people I know find it hard to believe that I'm a person of faith sometimes because I also don't believe in being a "uptight Christian".

As for having a good time, we obviously see things that are enjoyable completely different. You have no right to judge me just as I have no right to judge you, so saying that "I might want to change my Character because God doesn't like it" shows how clueless you truly are. You don't want to start anything, yet make comments like that. It won't surprise me at all to find out one day that you came to this site with the intentions of irritating people. And while I don't hate you, you're certainly an irritating person.

And that, my friend, is the difference between you and I. You're homeless because you choose to be for whatever reason, and I was homeless because I had no money. And like you said, having no money really sucks, so you can see how a thread that is praising homelessness could be a little stupid to me. And if you think you need to be homeless to save money, you really need to take a good look at your financial future and future with whatever company you work for, cause I highly doubt you will enjoy this lifestyle forever. Especially if you start looking for someone of the opposite sex to hake a life with. Females don't like homeless guys too much.

Just my .02.

I don't believe he was disrespectful to you. Moreover, I clearly said your thread is weak . .. nothing was said to insult you. You have however attacked NT without provocation.

Two questions:

How long have you been living this lifestyle?

Where is your income coming from?

I didn't really attack him, I just stood up for myself. Now I'll answer your 2 questions

1) I've been living like this for a year now. U can probably say about a year and a 2 months now since I lived like this at one time in the past for about 2 months but I was foolish enough to rent a house. Then after a while I realized how rent was interfering with my money so I said forget it, I'd rather be homeless

2) I work in a factory. Its a good job with good people and I praise God for it. I'm not a man who asks for much, I just want God to give me a decent amount of money like he is doing now. $1,500 a month may not be a whole lot, but u can make it last if u don't have to pay rent or mortgage

Cool. You initially came off like a trust fund baby just kinda playing at being homeless. . . "slumming it" was what they used to call it. I'm glad that isn't what you have going on & if you were hearing a tone like disrespect-lite, that suspicion is pretty much where it was coming from. Others can correct me if I am wrong about that being where the tone was rooted.

1) I've been living like this for a year now.
A year is pretty respectable. Are you encountering any homelessness services where you are at? I ask because homelessness services is one of my passions.

No not really cause I don't want to live or sleep at a homeless shelter because they have too many rules

My uncle lived in one of those for awhile. They made it almost impossible to stay there if you worked. Actually it was entirely impossible if you worked anything but first shift. They require you to help out in shifts, which is fine, but they're really inflexible with the times they want you to do it.

Malachi 4:5 "See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse."

I would suggest reconcilation with your Father, the truth is you can not be right with God without being right with your Father.

Certain kinds of females do. I still get to enjoy the luxury of a female. Right now is not the time for me to explain how. First I want u all to understand my view of the world first then I will get into how I get women, although I do hope to settle down with one woman one day and start a family

Interesting. Well, as long as you are happy. But...

I wouldn't recommend living off the grid, simply because it seems to be a health risk.

I understand what you are saying: "Why do you care if I live a risky lifestyle and die as an adult when you didn't take care of me as a child?"

While you may have a point, you still haven't addressed what your parents said, namely the risk involved. While your odds of getting attacked/robbed/etc. may be higher than usual in this country, you may feel comfortable with the odds. If that is the case, then I don't have much to say. Well, I'll say more things any way

It sounds like you have a car, cell phone, and are connected with people. You apparently differ from everyone else only in the fact that you don't have a permanent residence. Interesting.

How much is the cost living where you are? I ask because I was supporting myself on $1600 at my last job. Granted, I didn't have car insurance/health insurance, but it wasn't too bad.

Yes, I am trying to 'solve' your 'problem' by saying it might not be so bad to hook back in, even if it means diminished cash...

It is a matter of risk. Chance. Fate. Probability.

Also... how you manage to live without modern conveniences is remarkable in this day and age. I would go nuts without A/C

In any case, I will say that to me it sounds almost silly to throw away thousands of years of human struggle, ingenuity, social upheaval, knowledge, and sometimes dumb luck just to save a few bucks!

Also, I would implore you to think about this in another way; this thread basically deals with an issue we are all too familiar with: money. I am going to assume that if you had a 100 million dollars, you would buy a house, buy all the things you've ever wanted, etc. In short, you would not be in this situation where you are asking people on the internet to comment on your lifestyle, because there would be nothing to ask. If this assumption is wrong, stop reading.

If it is right, then I would say you are just like everyone else; trying to minimize pain and suffering in exchange for the dollar (except in situations where pain in the present creates rewards in the futures, and maybe others). In this country we are granted an amazing opportunity to execute this exchange; the ability to hand someone a piece of paper for something inherently useful by its nature to humans, say a piece of bread.

A place to live, store accumulated 'stuff', have electricity to power appliances/electronics, all in pursuit to minimize suffering of ages past... this is something I am willing to trade paper for.

You may have more money, but to me it wouldn't be worth it. However if it is fine for you, then what can I say? People live all over the world in horrible conditions, so you are better off than MANY people. I cannot complain.
