  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

He asked me this morning before lunch. Today is our 1 year anniversary and we were going to go out to dinner this evening. He came by to pick me up and we decided to do lunch before we did anything else. He mentioned a few days ago about things we could do, he suggested the park by his house. This is the place where he first said I love you and where we had our first kiss so it's special to us. We went there, it had rained early this morning so he was really glad that it had stopped, we walk over to the pond and just kind of stand there and look around. I turned around thinking about saying that we should move to a different spot because that one was really wet and the next thing I know he is reaching into his pocket. I knew at that point what was coming, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him and I of course said yes.

I kind of saw it coming, in the back of my mind I just had this feeling that it was probably going to happen soon, I pretty much talked myself out of it though thinking it wasn't going to happen today. Boy was I wrong. Right now we're looking at either the first or second week in August. Neither of us want to wait a long time. Now we have a lot of work to do to make that happen.

Oh and I think it's just fantastic that you are getting married so soon :) But I might be biased... My husband proposed around this time '08 and we married August 4 '08 :D

Thanks so much, we're so excited. I've known for a long time that I don't want a long engagement, I'm so glad he agreed.
When we got back to his house and made phone calls we talked about a date, I didn't want to wait until next year when I graduate and I really didn't want a winter wedding so August or a little earlier in the summer is really our only choice. I guess now we're looking at August 14th, as long as the church is free. The 7th is already booked for a wedding, I forgot all about that one.

Yay! So excited for you. Our engagement total has been about 4-1/2 months and now we're at the 2 month mark. There's been plenty to do to keep me busy but I think I would have gone CRAZY if we'd made it a longer engagement. 5-1/2 months is plenty of time to plan a wedding. Have fun!

I'm so glad to hear that everything can get done in 5 months, I figured it could but I didn't want to be so busy that I'd go crazy. I have a few hours between my two classes so I think I know now home I'm going to be spending that time. I've already started to look up some pictures of things and a few checklists to give me ideas.

I'm meeting up with two of my old roommates next weekend, we'll have to do some dress shopping, they seem really excited about it too. We planned this get together a few weeks ago so it worked perfectly that I got engaged just before it, we were wondering what we were going to do the whole weekend.
