I have gotten these bouts of depression on and off all through my life. I am Bipolar, so this is somewhat normal for me. I am not suicidal or anything serious like that, I just feel down and dejected. I am sleeping more than I should and just don't feel well a lot of the time physically either. I have chronic Lyme Disease, so this may be a big part of that physical end of it all. I also got sick twice last month and was on heavy duty antibiotics too. That may well be a part of it as well. All combined, this has spelled disaster for me. None the less, I am still going to work and doing what I have to do. Other than that, though, I am doing very little. I don't feel like cooking or eating either, so that compounds the whole thing.

Your prayers are appreciated.

Father, I pray that You will show this one how to change their thinking; how to change their viewpoint, how to change the way they respond to things. I used to immediately gripe when it would take me 3 or 4 attempts to pick something off the floor. I now realize I don't have to gripe, I choose to gripe or not. I can get mad, or I can just laugh at myself, and realize I am not always as adept at picking things up as I should be. Widen the scope of what I have written above to depression. What brings on depression is usually our own thinking. Is it "Stinking thinking"? Research Pollyanna and see that she always had a good response no matter how bad the situation. Many children and adults enjoy playing games. Turn things into a game.
My opponent is going to try to depress me, and my goal is to stay up beat. Play the game, and win the game. Someone may have a stack of dirty dishes that they don't feel like washing. They would rather play a game. How about turning this chore into a game or a fantasy. Create the game that would be pleasing to you. To me, I turn it into a war game. The dishes are p.o.w.'s in a filthy jail. I rescue them by washing them and putting them away into their proper places of rest and comfort. When I pull weeds in the yard, those weeds are enemy soldiers that occupy a land I am waging to set free of them. You may not like my games, so make up your own. Maybe those dirty dishes you are doing are the dishes that you and an admirable celebrity just finished getting dirty, and you are having a GOOD TIME washing them together. Use your imagination, and leave your depression behind. Father Lawrence did all the dishes in his monastery while "Practicing the Presence of God" and had an enjoyable time doing it. Father, bring this one to victory over depression. Amen.

I went to ask a neighbor out for pizza and she invited me IN for pizza instead :) So I am in a better mood now. We watched an old western movie, a comedy, and we laughed a lot. That helped. I did this while all you were praying for me. Thanks so much! She is my good Christian neighbor. That makes a difference too.

It’s very sweet of your neighbor to invite you, and such kind gestures go a long way. I’m praying that God will touch you with His healing hand, provide strength and comfort at this time. Have you considered counseling for your situation? I know that Focus on the Family can provide a free phone consultation with a licensed counselor if you call this number 855-382-5433.

I am praying that you will continue to push through, to use God's word as an armour, as crutches and as a shield against the enemy's lies and manipulation. I know how difficult it is in the moment of depression, to pick up your bible or to sit and pray, but I urge you Sister, to please do so. God's word is the greatest armour we could have ever asked for, and it is yours to use as you need it. Do not forget that.

I have been studying Max Lucado's book called Anxious For nothing and looking up Bible verses with the Bible Study that goes with it. It is based upon Bible verses from Phillippians (4:6-8) and also notes a bunch of other verses from all over the Bible. So I have been trying and this has been helping. I started this as I was falling into the depression.

Some of the Depression has lifted. All of everyone's prayers really are helping, so keep them coming please!

Praying for you my Sister, for God's loving and healing touch to bless you with peace and joy.
When you have nothing to do, Memorize Romans 8:38-39 and I have seen this help others,
