I remember feeling the same way when I was in school. You gotta believe me when I tell you, it WILL get better. You have to work through the tiresome stuff, the seemingly meaningless - the better to graduate to a higher level or better school. You might feel encouraged by looking into some other classes you might like, more specific to your interests, at a local junior college. Generally, they have better stuff at the colleges, and you get to hang with the big kids. ;0p Big Plus, you may be eligible for valuable school credits! Or do they no longer offer this program? I once enslaved myself for the semester to a local kennel-petshop, for high school credit. I learned I would never willingly pursue a career in husbandry, yet I cherish the memory of that time as one of my happiest. It might have been happier still, had I taken ceramics instead.

Although you may never use some of the knowledge you get there, you'll have a hard time getting a good job if you don't do well enough there to go to college. That's just a fact. These days, most places won't even hire a person if they don't have a degree from college. It's possible to succeed without it, but you'll work 10 times harder than someone who has that piece of paper. So dealing with the hardships of high school is necessary, even if it seems pointless. You'll find that out rather quickly when you graduate and move on.

Hang in there and do your best. It isn't forever, and the time passes quicker than you may realize right now.

I don't know what to say except you have my sympathy; I hated school pretty much the whole time, but it is survivable!

It's true, things will get better, but I know two years, (or however long you intend to stay there), seems a long time when you're miserable.

Is it just school, or are you unhappy in other parts of life too? I'm a bit concerned about the " no meaning in life" statement.

God bless you, Susana

So many times I felt that way, now at times I wish I was back in school! It is normal to go through the feelings you have. You will be done with school soon enough. If you go on to college, you will get to choose many of your classes based on what YOU want to do. But, there will be other times in your life, even after school when you may feel that way again. I try to believe on the other side of what you are going through, is something great! With God's love and patience, you will see reasons (not until after the fact usually) :)

I'm sorry but I must say this... boohoo. If you'll excuse me, you sound like you have a bit of a martyr complex. You're hardly being totured and whether or not you're willing to admit it, you're learning valuable lessons that you WILL use later in life. You're developing your study skills, your time management skills, your relational skills, you coping with pressure skills, your not whining about life skills.

I felt the same way my freshman year. I'm now a junior and enjoying school and doing my best! My freshman year, I just didnt care. I didnt know why I would use science unless I wanted to be a scientist. Math might come in handy, but what do i need all the algebra stuff for? History is the past, why do we have to learn it? All this would go through my head when I went to school.

I had to go to summer school that summer for math, and science i had to retake sophomore year. believe me that really stank! anyways, over the summer i got motivated. God woke me up to the fact that a good high school education will get me into college, and a good college education will get me somewhere in life! Sophomore year I made straight A's! This year, I'm still doing good! You can too! So just listen to me when I say that you need to look past all the boring stuff and realize that school can be fun if you let it! You just have to give it the time of day! God bless, I hope I've motivated you some.

Well the thing is for me, it's a 20 minute walk to school and then 20 minutes back. The school has over 4,000 kids and is only supposed to have 2,000. School in in new york city is ****. Oh well I guess I'll get through it, if not Ive always got my knife handy.

OK, first put the knife away - it will only compound your trouble in all sorts of ways.

20 mins. walk isn't the problem is it?
If you're feeling threatened you need to get adult help where you are.
A teacher you get on with, Mum or Dad, school nurse, family doctor?
Or someone at church, maybe youth leader?
Over here we have "childline" for kids to phone for support. Does USA have similar voluntary groups?

You may not want to ask for help; we all face the dilemma of whether to trust someone, and believing it's any use at some time in life. It's hard when it comes so young.

You do sound depressed and anxious, and whatever anyone says here seems not to be connecting. You need some human connection. Go and find it, please.

God bless, Susana

I learnt this by heart this summer because it gives me hope when I'm down.
Hope you can find comfort in it to tide you over.

God loves you, and that can sound so trite because we hear it all the time, but let yourself believe it, and see in this psalm how He watches over you.
The words "watch" and "watches" are repeated over and over because He knows we don't grasp it first time!

Psalm 121

1 I lift up my eyes to the hills-
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD ,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot slip-
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD watches over you-
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD will keep you from all harm-
he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

:hug: Susana
