CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

monk was taken, this is my fallback name it comes from colloquialising progressive rock which is my favourite genre of music.
I can program, my main languages are Ada and Lisp, however these days I do more computability theory and logic than programming.

I have been a Christian for about 8 years. That is I've been following Christ as a personal decision for 8 years. Since most of my family is Christian and that's the way I've been raised, one could argue that I've been Christian all my life.
Some of the pivotal events in my Christian walk are:
8 years ago - Dedication to Christ
5 years ago - Met my mentor and big brother in Christ
5 years ago - Baptism
3 years ago - fell out of consistent fellowship with my church, this lead to me taking a step back and figuring out what I believed, why I believed it that sort of thing.
2 years ago - started regularly attending my church again.
