  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

He's right. And Jesus came with a sword, to divide. If good and evil face against each other, and the evil makes the divide irreconcilable, you need to pick a side.

So...you're advocating for the division of the united states I guess?

No, it's very unfortunate, but it's the reality we have to deal with.

It’s already divided.
Ok. But it's been "divided" for a long time.

I've never heard a president say they don't care it's divided or seem interested in keeping it together.

You're not advocating for the division?

But you wrote:

What was it called again?

Thr what states of America?

https://www.independent.co.uk/tv/news/donald-trump-care-less-fox-interview-video-b2825880.html

Well, now he's just said what his critics knew all along.

How is it helpful for thr UNITED Statea to have a leader actively voicing rhat he has no interest in teying to lead a divided nation?

How can it POSSIBLY bode well for the future of your country?
Unify under what? What is the common ground? Whatever is left of the liberal camp is currently making death lists on BlueSky with names like Donald Trump, Matt Walsh, Ben Shapiro, Libs of TicTok, and Elon Musk. The way I see, this has become a battle against ideologies.

Rep. Moulton says he, family and staff have received death threats after call for political unity

My office has received an extraordinary number of violent and graphic threats yesterday and today from right-wing individuals online and over the phone—directed toward me, my family, and my staff—after I pointed out the simple fact that President Trump should join Speaker Johnson and other level-headed Republicans in condemning political violence, not inciting it further.

Again I ask, "Unify under what?"

I'd be of the opinion that the PResident and his people (speech writers, underlings, everyone) has the JOB of finding it...of finding SOMETHING to unify.

The way I see, this has become a battle against ideologies.
YOu're not wrong, but when has it ever NOT been? AT least you've ALWAYS had presidents willing to make an effort.

As a baby step, we can deplore all political violence, instead of saying "the radicals on the XXXX are the problem,” but my radicals are simply misunderstood.

Want unity? Take the bull horn away from the extremes of both parties and elect people that can actually talk to each other.

I disagree. The people who have found some common ground to unify under has already left the Democratic Party, and every time the left doubles down instead of learning from their mistakes, more people leave. The latest example is how so many life-long democrats are leaving the party because they are so ashamed and repulsed by those in their own party who are celebrating political assassinations and are demanding more. So what we have is a unified group that hates Trump and conservatives, and pretty much everyone else. So unify under what?

Of what is left of the Democratic Party, how many can truthfully say they deplore all political violence when so many are making death lists on BlueSky?

"Some 38% of the total respondents said it would be "somewhat justified" to murder President Trump, while 31% said the same about Elon Musk. However, for those self-identifying in that group who were more left-leaning, those numbers grew to 48% and 55%, respectively."

New survey reveals disturbing trend in support of political violence

Meh. Promoting the extreme outliers to center stage. Not convincing.

That's my point.

Good leadership is able to find or provide that. Good leadership doesnt abandon it.

Good leadership

This is not the extreme outliers. This is between 35-55% of people who consider themselves liberal to moderately liberal. Some of these so called "extreme outliers" are members of congress!

Half of the voters are liberal democrat and half are conservative republican. Which side should give into the other to achieve unity?
