• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

that i'll have faith and get to know God and then when I die, I will not be forgiven and I will lose more than if I had not came to him. I'm afraid im unforgivable and that if i come to Him, it will anger Him. see i started to come to Him back in december but I didn't know that i had to have faith in Jesus. I tried to do it on my own and i got mixed up and my ocd became religious and it's been kinda down hill from there...

Guys, could we all come into agreement and pray that Caty be delivered from this and freed from the bondage of OCD?

i'm afraid that just like Hell ( God doesn't want for people to God there---but he has to let it happen) that if I've blasphemed the holy Spirit I'll have to go even if God didn't want me to. I'm afraid that im an exception and there is a way around those saving scriptures.

Remember Caty. Perfect Love casts out all fear and Jesus is our Perfect Love. There are also scriptures in the Bible about taking our thoughts captive. The enemy will often plant seeds of doubt in our head about the truth of God's Word and His desire to save us. I am going to offer you this suggestion. Get some scriptures and write them on index cards or put them on a sheet of papre and carry these cards or this sheet of paper wherever you go. Whenever, this fear begins to come up or a negative thought or doubt about God, just pull the scriptures out and begin to recite them out loud. . .or if you aren't somewhere you can do that, read them to yourself and focus on each scripture and what it means until that fear subsides. You might have to do this a lot, but eventually you will find that that fear and unbelief will subside and be replaced by the truth found in the Scriptures.

So what you are basically saying is that you are paranoid.

I would suggest that you make an appointment to see a Christian counselor that deals with OCD that can help counsel you and walk you through your feelings of anxiety.

Something that is going to be hard for you having OCD is that salvation has nothing to do with you. It is a gift from God. You don't do anything to deserve it and you don't do anything to keep it.

Think of it like Christmas time and the presents are under the tree. God has a present for you. It has no requirements, no strings attached, He is not like santa giving it to you because you have been good and He is not an indian giver that is going to snatch it away from you if you are bad. It is simply a gift and we recieve it in simple child like faith.

What is child like faith? It is what it is. A child doesn't think about how good or bad he or she has been (unless he or she has been taught to think that) ...the child is not anixous and fearful on Christmas morning because they are afraid that mommy or daddy are going to take away the gift after they fall in love with it.

The child does not think about any of those things because the child trusts.

Trust that you are loved and the gift is for you, from your loving heavenly Father, with no strings attached and have a Merry Christmas! :)

Blessings!

The spiral bound index cards work really well for this because they all stay together and you can just flip through them like crazy whenever you have a spare moment. I prefer the neon colored ones. :D

caty, i have ocd aswell..when i read what you wrote..you and i can relate..as i said..i struggled imensely with this issue...you must not go by your head and thoughts..what you feel or your logic says..ocd traps u that way..fear and anxiety are its main strengths ocd uses..i know this..cause i struggle with this..but you must just believe regardless of what your mind feelings etc say..dont worry..really dont worry..i have ocd too..religious ocd etc..it hurts me badly..but i have learned not to go by feelings thoughts..they can be so deceptive and seem so right and godly..but gods greater then that..and so is his love for you...you are really ok.i know its hard..i have been there..still there ..ocd and it all..but learn..dont go by your head or thoughts..trust your heart..trust yourself..please take this with a grain of salt..but ocd people gotta believe in themselves..with God of course..but dont fear..your ok:D...you really are..just look past your head and thoughts..believe in love..and goodness..just believe..regardless of whats going on and your logic says..gods love is greater than that

I also have this fear that maybe ive committed this and Jesus doesnt even think about me, that he is mad and has casted me aside.

Let me give you a point of reference here. If I marry a young lady and she is completely faithful to me and is everything you could want in a woman.

Yet if I, by looking at other failed marriages never can believe that she is faithful and a good wife, then I rob myself of the fulness of every blessing that I am blessed with by her being my wife because I don't believe her love is genuine and true. What makes it so tragic is that I would be believing a lie.

There is something in your mind that is telling you that you cannot trust and could be connected with the reason you are suffering with OCD. It could be some deep hurt from the past, it could be an unrealistic perception of the world that you are superimposing over on to God or it may be something else entirely.

Fear is an emotion and you cannot control an emotion. Fear is activated by what you put in your mind. If your mind is sending the message that God is unloving or the devil is going to get you then your emotions are going to react to that information.

You are going to have to deal with and sort through the reason or reasons why you are thinking this.

The truth sets us free and by the same token, a lie is what brings us into bondage.

If there is bondage in your life, you can bet that somewhere there is a lie that you are believing or buying into that is causing the bondage.

This is why Satan is called the father of lies. That is what he does...he lies and he cannot tell the truth.

This is why I suggested you speak to a Christian counselor who can help you sort through, find and expose the lies and discover the truth and let the truth make you free.

Blessings! :)

For once and for all, please, please know this: If you have the softness of heart to even consider that maybe you have committed the unpardonable, then you haven't. Those who blaspheme the Holy Spirit are those who are so degenerate that they will never respond to His love, and they will never stop to wonder if they have done something unpardonable--they don't care.

Besides, where have you ever heard that Jesus gets "mad" at any of those who seek Him? Who does He ever cast aside who desire Him? That is a lie from Satan--he tells us those stupid lies. Don't listen to him.

Jesus loves you with an EVERLASTING LOVE. He wants you to respond to Him by coming to Him, allowing Him to live His life in you, in intimate communion with Him. It's a love relationship!

I want to add something, those who struggle with this are afraid that this is not rejection but rather something that is spoken, scriptures use the work "Speak against" so this is where the "ocd" pounds away at.

This needs to be understood, or we will get frustrated :)

I want to come to Jesus, but I fear I've committed the unforgivable sin? Can anyone help me with this?
If you are scared you committed this sin, then you haven't. Those who commit this sin feel no remorse over it and they certainly don't want anything to do with Jesus.

Come to Jesus. He will receive you. :)

Caty ...

People who've "gone too far", or who've "committed the unpardonable sin",

the Bible clearly states they don't care. It says they are "past feeling".

So if you were at this point, it wouldn't even bother you.

You would just shrug off the leadings of the Holy Spirit.

Take comfort in that.

hey caty,

There are times when I feared that I've committed this sin. I thought that things I've said or though would do it, though I noticed that the Holy Spirit continued to operate in my life. How could that happen? I still desired Jesus, to please Him, to weed out sin, to grow spiritually and win the lost.. you know, everything the devil wouldn't want. None of that could happen unless the Holy Spirit is moving on a person, because we are by nature resistent to the things of God because we are sinful. If the Holy Spirit had abandoned you, you would never care because your sinful nature would keep you from Him.

Caty, I'm honestly thrilled that you are considering making this decision. We all are :) It's not just life-changing, it's giving you a whole new one. Christ is simply waiting for your repentance and turn away from sin. There is no thing that you could do that would have Him turn you away. You can't do anything to earn salvation, as you are not fit. You need not fear your qualifications because you have none, but the beauty is that you do not need to. I do want to make sure, don't confuse this finding a way to live a stress-free life (being a Christian is very difficult at times when you count the cost), but you are promised one thing in the hands of God, and that is forgiveness, that He will be working to make you into someone new, becoming more like Christ, and that you will be His. It's a very joyful and exciting thing!

PS - Not sure I have OCD, but sometimes I come close :)

it worries me because ive sinned and stuff because i feel like what the heck im unforgiveable anyway but it still makes me feel bad, and i worry that if i want to please Jesus or not or if im just afraid of hell (which i think thats the only reason), I have all of the terrible thoughts (but i dont want them), but i do desire to have a relationship with Jesus so, i hope thats just enough to make me forgiveable.
