  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm auditing a class in Biblical Greek. The class is once a week with a fair amount of homework. I aced the first exam so I'll see how things go. I want to be skilled at reading the New Testament and the Septuagint in their original language. I've studied Greek on and off but now going to a class forces me into a schedule. I hope in a year to be fairly comfortable reading. I don't know if I have the fortitude to ever study Hebrew. I'm mostly interested in the Indo-European languages - maybe if I do well with Koine Greek I'll tackle classical Greek.

very cool! Maybe you can post how it goes as you progress in the class. I have a hard time just remembering a few spanish phrases to speak to my spanish friends at work. I can't fathom being able to retain a language like Greek. But we all know you are a very smart man, I have no doubt you can do this :D

I'm jealous. I'd like to find time to do the same. This board has actually pushed me toward wanting to understand the Bible better. For now, every brain cell is being squeezed dry just trying to absorb medications and disease processes. However, if my Jewish friendship continues after nursing school, I do have someone who does read Hebrew.
