Ok, my daughter comes home from school today (she's a senior) and tells me they're teaching on Illuminati at school. I had no clue what she was talking about so started doing some research. Now my brain is overloaded with way too much info! lol

Anyway, I first thought this is just some kind of conspiracy theory, but some of these "secret society" type groups have existed in history. I'm not sold on whether they exist today or not.

I guess the questions I would like to pose are:

Should this be "taught" in schools?

Do you believe there is some "secret society" controlling things?

How do you feel such a group impacts your life and the world as a whole?

I'm positive groups exist that seek to give mutual benefits to their members. I'm sure some are secret.

But one great conspiracy? Nope.

After reading through the first link you provided it seems to me that the original Illumaniti were much more likely a group of freethinkers, people who were more apt to write and agitate for more rights and respect for those lower in the order of the time, somethign that would eventually trickle down.

Those who outlawed the Illumaniti seem more like the monsters who want to control everyone else.

Which of course is a brilliant ploy.

I think yuo should ask yuor daughter jsut what she learned in school. Teaching about real groups and contrasting them to modern myths having the same name is I think a good thing. Perpetuating the myths is not.

I don't see a problem teaching about it. I mean it's a real part of history. They teach about the KKK and Masons don't they? You don't have to agree with the group to teach it as part of history.

To this point, what was the context? History class? Politics? Also does she attend a private religious school?

I saw a post on another board a while ago where a mother was outraged (by the antisemitism) that her son was being told of a incident where some Jews were tortured and killed for attacking a catholic boy. Turns out the story in question was from Canterbury Tales and being taught in history.

Yes they have, and the Illuminati is an actual group.

Depends on what they are teaching.
If they are teaching the historical roots and outgrowth of the Illuminati, then I don't see an issue with it.
If they are teaching the kids that the Illuminati "controls the world" (to whatever degree), then I would have issue with that

I personally believe that there are several societies, secret and otherwise, influencing things. And no, I'm not a conspiracy theorist at all (no matter how fun it is to read about such).
Control is far too strong a word in my POV.

If you are concerned about it at all, perhaps you should ask the teacher for the curriculum in regard to this part of the class, to see what they are actually teaching, just to put your mind at ease.

Yeah I suspect alot of it is conspiracy theory stuff, but I do agree groups like this did exist in history. I'm not sold they still exist. I have explained to my daughter that its fine to be well educated about everything regardless if you don't personally agree with some of the teachings, its still good to be knowledgeable.

On a personal level, it is a little worrisome if any of this would be true, yikes!

Its not like that. She values my opinion and when something comes up in the curriculum she brings it to my attention to review it with her. I had honestly never heard of the Illuminati so I did my own research. The school she attends tends to go beyond what I recall "normal" curriculum was (I also attended the same school). They really like to challenge the students and get their minds thinking "outside the box", which is good, but sometimes it gets a bit odd.

I do feel there are people in positions whether it be of wealth or power that do influence the world and do make decisions that influence us all, all being done without our knowledge, now whether they're organized into some kind of secret society or not, I just don't buy it.

Conspiracies have happened throughout history. Its only recently that talking about those conspiracies has become ridiculed in the US. The rest of the world has a firm belief in them. You just have to follow the wacky logic to realize something other than the cover story is behind current events. ie The US is occupying Iraq because a dozen Saudi terrorists crashed a few planes into some buildings ten years ago.

Yes, but because people who write laws determine what schools teach its sort of a mute point. For instance. The Federal Reserve banking system is the biggest scam in US history, yet it is not taught in most public school systems but you can bet condom use is.

Its a fact that secret societies control things. Look up the Trilateral Commission and the Bilderberger conferences. Try to find out the specifics of what their objectives are and how they are achieving them.

How do you feel such a group impacts your life and the world as a whole?

The control strategy from the top down of government and corporations, to include law legislation and media. You tell me how that affects society.

I know from personal experience that those kinds of organizations exist locally. I've offered you something to look up as far as international groups like that.

It will never be thought on school for the welfare of everybody because unveiling the secret is a misfortune and was a misfortune like what had happen in the story of Atlantis.The Atlantians abuse their power. Well, I dont know who tupac is but I dont agree with you, consistently accusing the spiritual group of people,the illuminati. The war was not illuminati's responsibility and the killing of your tupac buddy. Illuminati are religious people holding top secrets.Pagans who had been ruled by evil caused the war. Romans were Pagans before and they conquered the world in World War I with millions of death and ever since then corruption ruled the land.
