Judge Issues Restraining Order Exempting Downstate Lawmaker From Pritzker’s Stay-at-Home Order
I'm just disappointed he only gave it to the one guy.

In my state I worry a bit about the Stay at Home Order. The state laws that gives the governor the ability to do so also seems to limit his order to 30 days without legislative approval for an extension. If someone based a lawsuit on that it would likely be overturned, unless I missed something. My question is why not do it right? An extension should have been easy to get. He has set himself up for failure by acting with too heavy of a hand.Judge Issues Restraining Order Exempting Downstate Lawmaker From Pritzker’s Stay-at-Home Order

Unfortunately when governors mess up then Trump looks good. The question is why don't governors follow the rules for their own states? It is rather foolish since it all but guarantees a loss in front of an honest judge, even if the judge realizes that the right thing to do is to continue the lock down. Sometimes the right thing to do is not the legal thing to do. And then the courts can be our downfall. And that is precisely the reason that the Great Leader President Trump called for the oppressed people to rise up and liberate their states from the draconian measures put in place from these tin pot dictators!

My governor should take a chance and put it before the legislature. His order is already passed the thirty days allowed and he is likely to try to extend it. There are already two sheriffs in the state that have openly said they will not prosecute those that break the lockdown. The governor seems to have no answer because he may know that he is beyond the legal limit of his power. And of course the right wing sites are starting to pick up on this:
Sheriffs Buck the Law, Refuse to Enforce Lockdown Orders
Cone on, Snohomish County Sherriff’s not enforcing the law? I remember some pretty wild concerts in Darrington in the 90s and 2000s with the cops walking all around and arresting no one. Nothing new there.
Of course if I am right about my interpretation of state statutes, and I am not a lawyer so I could have clearly missed something, that is technically not the law. And yes, sometimes law enforcement picks and chooses which laws to enforce. From what I hear it is very hard to get arrested right now, but people are also afraid of going to jail because of the virus so there have been fewer crimes than normal, though of course domestic violence has spiked a bit.

Heavy-handedness, or hamfisted, has been my main complaint this whole time. It's really throwing the baby out with the bathwater
Whole nations have proven that universal house arrest is absolutely overkill. Even now we could do selective quarantine with testing and contact tracing.Except that the lock down is not exactly heavy handed. It is the incorrect application of it that could be said to be ham-fisted. Follow the rules of the state and there is less room for complaint. I don't want to see this fail due to incompetence of the governor.
The U.S. has not undergone house arrest. We went largely with limiting businesses that are open and social distancing. I have been walking for several miles every day. I merely stay away from other people on the road. No problems with law enforcement at all. If a group of people gathered on the street that would be broken up.Whole nations have proven that universal house arrest is absolutely overkill.
