I could not ascertain from the video if the burglars were undocumented or even immigrants at all.

Jumping to the conclusuon they are undocumented immigrants seems prejudiced to me.
Why?

If it's a repeated pattern of behavior that someone experiences frequently....why wouldn't you assume it?

Imagine that she's one of the people two miles from the border and these people are crawling through her backyard multiple times in a week. Is it still an unreasonable assumption?

Do the Latino maids consider it a "caste system"?

Full disclosure, my spouse, who is Latina, worked as a Hotel Manager/Supervisor for several years here in Arizona. Most of the staff were from Mexico or other Latin American countries. On the rare occasion a non-latino was hired, they didn't last 1 month and did a lousy job.

How do you know the illegal workers didn't just complain about them to keep job security?

Honestly if people keep pouring through the border with nowhere to go this will only get worse.
This thing impacts our crime more than we realize.

A few years ago, I was overnight security for this giant car dealership in a Mooresville, NC that was 1/2 hour + drive North of Charlotte. They had a major problem of people trying to steal tires, wheels etc. after hours and all of it seemed to be from Latin looking thieves and that really says something, because there are high crime areas in Charlotte and the neighboring towns, and it is mostly coming from indigenous Southerners. But that little town, would normally have a pretty low crime rate if not for such thieves that were obviously imported in.

I also got to say I feel bad for the ranchers trying to make a living in areas around the border for the last few decades. Even if people do not steal, vandalize etc. there is a lot of nuisances of having dozens of people trespassing each day, and doing other things that impacts you:: such as leaving gates open, so your livestock wanders away, leaving hoses on after they drink so your land floods, etc.

Because I trust my wife's first-hand assessment of their work.

So when we're talking substandard....what does that mean?

They cost more?

They can't clean as many rooms in the same amount of time?

They don't clean as well as the illegals? I.e. the carpets are still dirty, towels unwashed, etc.

And follow up question....when your wife hired these illegal workers for work, how did she skirt around all the legal obligations like ensuring citizenship and requiring social security numbers, etc?

Let's not back out of the fact that they were illegal, it's implied in your post, I spelled it out in my response, and you didn't correct me here in your reply.

I hear a lot of horse manure on the left about "we should go after the employers" so if your wife was the manager/supervisor and she's part of assessing who is hired and fired...clearly she's a part of the hiring process. I'm curious about how she got around the legal aspects....not so that our country can go after your wife, I'm not asking for her name and the hotel....but I'd like to know what loopholes we can close to ensure people like your wife are brought to justice in the future.

....maybe because the National Guard is not trained for that mission? If you want more boots on the border, hire more border patrol....

And do you really want the nation's military to be used for domestic law enforcement activities?
Is thwarting international invasion considered domestic law enforcement?

Wow, talk about making many bad assumptions. Sorry to disappoint you but my spouse was not in charge of hiring decisions. You'll have to take that up with her past Directors and coporate HR and (she worked for very large hotel companies).

Regardless of what you call it, my point hire the right people and train them for the job. Sending in the "National Guard" is not a solution.

....where are the American workers?

...and it's not just the hotel industry. Many service industries are struggling to fill positions..

"More than 9 of every 10 hotels in the United States are unable to fill vacancies in their staffs despite a climb in wages to an average of $22 an hour across the industry, according to new research from the American Hotel & Lodging Association, or AH&LA.

A canvass of 200 hoteliers during mid-September showed the typical lodging property is operating with 10.3 positions unfilled, with housekeeping jobs proving particularly difficult to fill. About a third of the respondents (36%) characterized the labor shortage as severe."

I’m not accusing anyone of wanting to eventually talk people into genocidally kill immigrants. I’m just going to point out, if one were to want to do that, calling them an “invasion” would be a good way to start persuading people toward that direction.

They didn't clean well or efficiently.
So you're saying that in less than a month ....it was determined they couldn't clean either at the speed of other maids (efficiency) or as well as other maids (quality) and undoubtedly, every attempt was made to show them the level of quality they needed to achieve, and the speed at which they were expected to do the job....probably by one of the better maids....who then reported on the unsatisfactory work to your wife.

Corporate HR hires the maids?

My mistake, when you used past tense, I assumed you meant 10+ years ago before a lot of these companies did their hiring online. Obviously corporate HR isn't going to your wife's individual location to do in-person interviews. What's the national chain and what is the location? Your wife isn't part of the hiring process and obviously cannot be implicated. I have a connection with the IRS and I can send a report to the department of labor. I'll report the business chain for illegal hiring practices (which they almost certainly use to pay less taxes) and we can "go after the employer" and I'll get myself a nice check because the IRS gives people who provide info on tax cheats a percentage of the money recovered.

Just a hotel name and city location will do...I think we can safely assume that your wife's specific location isn't the only culprit here.

Now's your big chance to show you do want to go after employers.

HR drives the hiring policy, including verification of employment status. She worked for "Designation Hotels" in Phoenix several years ago.....which I now see is owned by Hyatt. Knock yourself out.

What's several years ago?

I'm going to need a year to claim.

22$ an hour for the maids? Or are they adding in the rest of staff to bring that average up?

I interpreted this as an average across all hotel positions:

My doctor's dad lives in Laredo. He is afraid to leave his home for more than 15 minutes, because of break ins. He runs out to the grocery store, and hurries back, after being a victim of multiple break ins.
America really seems a dangerous place.

Where I live I see help wanted signs all over offering $20 to $25 per hr. I also see signs saying "closed due to staffing shortage".

Perhaps we should look for a better estimate then. I'd be surprised if maids averaged more than 15-17 an hour, and I'd be more surprised if the illegal ones made that.
