I'm bumping my own thread because I want to answer a question that's been asked in a lot of other threads but I think was missed on mine because of being on the 2nd page.:(

While I have read the Bible in it's entirity - I've never read it beginning to end. I read the books in random order - with multiple repeats of favorites (John, Romans, Ephesians, Revelation, Galatians, Psalms, Proverbs, Isaiah).

I've always intended to read front to back, just haven't done it yet. Maybe this will be a good impetus to do so.

Have you ever witnessed a Miracle... ?

The birth of my 2 children and the birth of my second grandson. Actually, all the births I worked labor/delivery back when I did that.

Now that I work pediatrics - I've seen children who were essentially given no chance of survival due to whatever disease process (mostly cancers) who are disease free today. Those are certainly miracles.

Every spiritual conversion, every heart turned toward God is a miracle that never ceases to move me. (I cry at baptisms)

Who besides Jesus Christ has been a major influence on your life?

My parents.

My father is the epitome of a quiet Christian in action. I will never know all he's done to help others, he doesn't make an issue or a show of it - he just goes about giving to those in need, helping whenever and wherever he gets a chance. I've never known him to treat anyone with anything but the utmost respect. His concern and caring for others is beyond anyone I've ever known.

My mother was a wonderful role model - she was dedicated to her husband and children, to her aging parents, to her family and friends, always putting their needs first. She faced great adversity in her life and I never heard her complain. I've thought about her a lot the past 2 months and have strived to follow her example of living with cancer. One of these days (trusting that day to be far in the future) I'll hopefully continue to follow her example. She faced her death with an amazing amount of grace and dignity, thinking of others right up until her final moments in this world. I draw great strength from her example.

what person would you like to be in the bible? knowing what they went through and your own abilities.

I think I'd have to choose Mary of Bethany.

I love sitting and listening to and learning from theologians. Whenever we have a guest speaker at my church I listen and glean as much from them as I can. I much prefer spending time learning to spending time in the kitchen (although I do that too).

Do you own any interesting artwork? :)

Probably only to me. My grandfather (a truly wonderful man) worked his entire adult life for the railroads. He could drive over a railroad track in the middle of nowhere and know which railroad (i.e. Norfolk Southern, Union Pacific) owned the track. Anyhow, my granddad loved trains and he instilled that love in me. He had a set of prints of old time locomotives - when he passed away the prints came to me. They probably don't have any great monetary value - but they are one of my most treasured possessions.

What are two of your best personal qualities?

For as much as I enjoy talking, I'm a good listener.

The second is similar to the first - I'm hospitable, I love opening my home to others.

Friends and family are beyond value - I hope I reflect that with my personal qualities.

Is there anything that you collect?
Now or in the past, even childhood.

I have maybe 8 Hummels that my grandparents bought for me when I was small. Also from my grandmother teacups.

Another thing is snow globes - not the little plastic ones but real glass ones. I only have 6 because I'm picky - they have to be special and different.

Oh - and whenever we go on vacation I buy a print of the area by a local artist. I've gotten a rather nice collection of artwork that way.

Believe it or not, that was a hard question. You really made me think (my initial response was going to be I don't collect anything.)

What comment or conversation has had a great impact on you?

hmmm - this is a toughy

While I can't remember the exact conversation - when I was 18 I went to a retreat with some folks for my church. It was at that weekend that I was redeemed by our Lord and Savior. Obviously, something that was said impacted me.

Also, "will you marry me?" (that was way back in June 1978)

Finally - after my mom was diagnosed with cancer when faced with difficult situations she would say, "This too shall pass." I find myself saying that a lot these days.

What book are you reading right now? Do you ever read books that you've read before?

Holiness by J. C. Ryle

and I do re-read books - I've read Mere Christianity several times, a couple other theology books too. When I can't read at night I read novels - I'll just grab one and start reading - as a result I've read most of them multiple times (because I don't like to keep buying new novels, I'd rather spend my money on theology books).
