CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

IJWTS; (this isn't directed to anyone here, just at the abundance ridiculousness about the election on facebook, even in Canada)
For better or for worse, Obama is president again. God allowed it to happen for a reason. Now pray for the man; we are called to pray for our loved ones, our enemies, each other, and or leads; there is NO reason not to pray for this man. So please, stop with the hate (that we shouldn't be spewing), stop with the harshness (that has never been done to us), and do something that set's us apart and that we're straight up supposed to do.

IJWTS I just picked up a fourth job working downtown at a independent retail store. It is by far the coolest job ever. Tonight, when I left work, I was walking the couple of blocks to get to my car. I passed the Cathedral and I was able to have church bells serenade me to my car. It was pretty sweet!

downtown chattanooga has churches that gather at the park every sunday to preach and give out food and other materials to the homeless and needy. i attended one of these gatherings last week and couldn't help but notice that one guy would hand out cigarettes to the people. idk if he was with the church or not, but i was tempted to have pharisaical indignation.."this dude is giving out tobacco to people!?!! the horror"
then the Lord softly reminded me, "And whosoever shall give a cigarette unto one of these little ones and a lung full of toxic smoke only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward."
okay, maybe it doesn't exactly say it that way. that was a trent translation. but the point is God told Peter what was that to him (when he asked Him about what would happen to the apostle John in the last chapter of john) Jesus' answer was to follow Him and basically don't worry about it.
i just thought i would share that. maybe there are people who are quick to judge or critisize other people. Jesus doesn't want us to do that. yes. maybe people do things that are wrong or just things we don't agree with, but the call is the same.."follow thou me"

IJWTS that I'd love to switch places with Miss Spaulding right now. I hate the winter weather we're getting, and she just loves it, while I'd get the balmy temperatures of Florida.
