  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

IJWTS - I got a little bit of overwhelming news last night and am a bit shell-shocked :sigh:
IJWTS - Sorry to hear that.

I wish I could've gotten 12 hours of sleep, although, that does sounds like too much.

IJWTS-SoccerDad??? What is the football like over in the States? I never managed to catch a game when I was over there. I suppose Chicago would be my team if I had to choose one been as I stayed there over the summer. Do you guys have the English league on tv? Just curious.

IJWTS-to clear things up..."soccer" is football where I am from lol :D The "Bears" are in the NFL right? My ex-girlfriends father took me to see the Detroit Lions play once and was going on and on about how good a season he thinks they were gonna have based on their pre-season games. They lost every single game last year :p Classic lol

IJWTS - Heck ya!! Big ManUtd fan here. I was a fan from an early age, because one of my coaches as a kid came up through their youth system, and played some for them. I never realized how huge they were until in my early 20's.

We get the EPL over here, and I love watching it! The Chicago Fire is a good team, but naturally, I'm a Seattle Sounders fan.

Youth soccer is pretty big over here, and the MSL is getting bigger, and playing a better game then when we started. We're getting more and players that played in Europe and the game has gotten that feel to it, more pressure, etc. I love the fact that more americans are playing in the EPL too.

I was in the "Bob Bank"...where Ross ran to after the goal. My team play in the division below man Utd (although you probably knew that!) How much coverage do you lot have on the English leagues then? We have an American international striker playing for us at the moment. He is a bit of a cult hero at Cardiff :D Eddie! Eddie! Eddie! (You can hear a small section of the fans in the Grandstand chant his name as he starts to warm up along the touchline in this clip lol)

IJWTS - I really like Eddie Johnson. He got screwed by Bruce Arena in the last World Cup, so that makes me hope even more that he does well.

I'm aware of Cardiff. I enjoy watching the FA Cup because of the excitement of a lower division teams playing against EPL teams, and the energy of the game. I see Cardiff is in the promotion playoff zone, Good luck! Those playoff games are awesome to watch!

If Eddie is anything it's that he tries his best. That's why we love him down here. I'm sure the play-offs are a "blast" (as you guys say)...but for the teams involved it's a nightmare. The 2nd leg of the play-off against Bristol City in 2003 at their ground was the longest 90 minutes of my life. I never ever want to go through that again (even though we won) :D

Have you got any links you can send me for the US League?
