  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why do people come to Christian Forums? Maybe you're lonely? Need companionship? Friendship? Maybe you're going through a rough time? Need help? Support? A kind word? Maybe because of a lot of things you've been through, you need answers? Need to find God?

Me, I first joined CF because I was a new Christian. Then as I spent more time on here, I remained to help out others and do ministry. Then came a time where I was the one who needed help and support as I have been going through a rough time. And yes, there are some here who do understand, who have embraced me in the name of Jesus Christ. When I was thirsty, they gave me drink. When I was beaten and laid on the side of the road, they stopped and took care of me.

Because of them, I have the strength to stand up on my own two feet. It is because of them that I have beaten back the demons who try to take me down with them. Because of their love, their prayers, their support, I truly know God, because how you treat the least of these is how you treat Him.

I can't tell you how thankful I am for you. I wish I could give you a big hug and thank you in person.

For me I came because I like telling others about my faith. If I am not doing it on here I am doing it in real life. But people are people no matter where you go, so I don't mind who I tell in any means. I am not looking for God, neither am I looking for friendship or fellowship. But that is just me

I think you should use this to start a new thread and find out why people join. ;)

My post was just a reminder that a lot of people here DO need help and come here seeking it and those meanish threads making fun of those who struggle, those who aren't as wonderfully social or those who do complain might need a little help rather than a smack in the face that we're not as "perfect" as it's expected we're to be. We are a community. There will always be times when members of our community need help and we have to reach out to them rather than make fun of them.

If you are talking about my thread I made about complaining then I will explain its purpose. I have no issues making such a thread. Christians, especiallyon this forum, complain as if they have no going for them. As if the God of all creation didn't die so that they may be saved from the depths of hell. This bothers me so much. We have so many things to be grateful for, even if we don't have everything our own way.

And it isn't like I don't know about feeling down, struggling, or needing help. I have struggled with depression. I've attempted suicide three times, but failed due to the over whelming grace and mercy of God! I feel lonely at times. I don't have many friends, and most of the people in my life use me because I can make them feel better about themselves. I could go on and on and on about the problems in my life.

In fact, I did for a long time. Not too long ago, I was posting about how lonely and sad I was. I was posting about how much life sucked, and so on. Then life smacked me in the face. I came to the simple realization that when I complain about how bad things are, the quicker and deeper I fall into a spiral of depression. "Man, I hate this weather" could quite literally end up with me crying with the pillow over my face because I wanted to die.

I am not perfect, nor do I expect other believers to be perfect. I understand we have our struggles. I understand we all have various shortcomings. That is why we need our God!

What I don't understand, however, is why a people who have been made free then decide to shackle themselves back up by complaining about various things in life.

Well we all are in different seasons in our life. Read Ecclesiastes 3. Sometimes we need times of mourning and times of sadness so we can have realizations like you had. I am on the back end of a strong depression that hit me over the holidays and I'm feeling a lot better and feel increasingly blessed.

But it is with the help of other Christians that I got through it. I was shown that I'm not alone and that God does have a plan for my life. Without that help, if I was here alone without support, it would've been harder to come back from this.

If your thread was meant to help and wasn't born out of frustration because other people are struggling, then I applause you brother. But my reaction upon reading it was a *sigh* and "jeez not this again" as if I was maybe a burden. Maybe I read it wrong.

You could've posted bible verses and offered support or even your story as encouragement instead.

I think if people are going to complain incessantly about their life, then others can complain about the complaining.

Its all the same in the end, no matter the motivation or circumstances. One man's complaint isn't more or less than another's.

You're right. I concede my point. To each their own I guess.

I find that being blunt has been the best support people can give, and this is seeing it done both ways by many people to many people, covering a range of emotions.

While Jesus was compassionate to people, he was also very blunt to many other people. And it got the point across to them, pretty well.

Sorry if I come of as harsh, bro...It is not the intent. I just that tough love can be a great force.

IJWTS- How I love this quote and it reminded me not to stress: Life is full of pains and hardships, but we are lucky we have a great God behind us all the time. Be thankful and count even the simplest blessings!
