  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

All of them!
:ahah::ok:

IJWTS it's very, VERY funny to hear my brother talk about how he'll raise his kids when he has them. He'll lay down the law and they won't misbehave and they won't get up at the crack of dawn.

Seriously.

I laugh at him just like this :ahah:

Haha, ah, I love it when people say such things. I do.

IJWTS: So, I was just studying my Bible notes, and I realized that I wrote "Hebrew stuck at creation." instead of writing "Hebrew story of creation". Oops.

IJWTS~ I hadn't realized before how much crap the education system across the vast majority of the world is putting children through. I'm so glad I don't have plans to be a public school teacher. I'm not gonna bow down to achievement tests. The children are more important.

In every class I have, we spend more time per day talking about current issues, bills that are being proposed/passed, and general problems with the education system that we need to be aware about and fighting and planning for, then the time we spend actually learning how to be a good teacher.

I mean the education system is now a political battleground, yet the education professionals have little to no say in any of it. The things that are already in place in schools, especially in Florida (which is at or near the bottom in education) make me sick.

I just started researching this alternative education site: Alternative Education Resource Organization | AERO | Learner-Centered Education . Have you heard of it? I haven't researched enough into yet to have an opinion on it, but I already got a book from the library that had been listed on this website, and it is an alright read so far.

They list several teaching methods they use... The only one I'm familiar with off the top of my head is Montessori. Basically it seems like they are using a student centered approach, where they play to students' strengths and allow students more freedom and choice in their education.

The upside is that many students in this system become more interested and motivated in learning, and they receive all the help and resources they could ever want.

The downside is that this requires teachers who are able to gather very deep information about all of their students, as well as a very expensive amount of educational resources and activities. It also takes more planning, which means that teachers can only handle smaller classes.

Did you know the American Education system is trying to make national standards for teacher certification? Teacher Performance Assessment Consortium | Teacher Performance Assessment Consortium (TPAC) . It makes me shudder.

And while smaller classes mean more expensive classes, if people would bother to spend their money on the important things in life (especially the rich people) and not feel the need to get the latest iPhone or new clothes, I bet there would be plenty of money to make better education happen.

They are also pushing for a national curriculum. Basically they are trying to move to a situation where every teacher in every class of the same grade/subject level will be teaching the same thing on the same days. They will then be tested with the exact same test.

I could talk about educational issues for a month straight if you let me, I better not get started haha...
