I used to be one, and questioned my salvation all of the time. I thank Him that he gave us some friends that exposed this gospel of WoF and now I believe I am secure in Him.

If you are not WoFer anymore, what caused you to not believe doctrine any longer. Was was your source?
Gailmac please don't make the same mistake I did. When I first heard a preacher say something that I felt was unbiblical I immediately decided to look into what other things this preacher had said. Where did I go to find this information? any and every site that exposed false teaching. Some of these sites had some intelligent, thought provoking and scriptually sound information, but some had taken quotes and misused them or even fabricated quotes or, worse still, slandered some great men of God. Without even realising it you start questioning every WoF teacher. Yes there are some teachers out there with their own fleshly peverted motives conning people, but I believe that at the heart of many of these teachers is a desire to see the Gospel preached and faith to be exercised. If some teacher has offended you or you feel has preached a different Gospel don't listen to them and just move on with your life listening to those who encourage you and help build your faith. Peace.

I mostly mean those name it claim it teachings that give people false hope and many give their faith credit versus God. I also want people to be aware of the heresy taught by many on TBN. If this isn't you and your beliefs....great!

Thanks for your input.

Wow! What brought me out?

There were several things that all converged to bring me out. The first was that, while I wasn't encouraged to read the Bible while I was in WoF, I did have a working knowledge of scripture and I started to take notes anytime the preacher said something that I remembered didn't add up.

I eventually took all of these questions to him and tried to ask (once I got through his entourage - we used to call them "The Merchantville Mafia"). Not only could he not answer, I was shunned for asking.

Like a good WoFer, I automatically assumed that this was my fault and defended him, anyway.

Then, I had a friend (incidentally, he now helps run Personal Freedom Outreach, one of the largest counter cult ministries out there) who opened up a Bible and said, "show me". Everything I saw showed me that I had been grossly mislead about Christ's death on the cross, demons, the power of words, the nature of God and the nature of man.

I was so discouraged that I dropped out of church altogether and seriously considered abandoning my faith in Christ. I backslid for a while and then one day, a friend of mine from Texas, who I hadn't spoken to in years, called me and asked me to be the worship leader at a church he was starting less than twenty minutes from my home in NJ.

I only said yes because I wanted an excuse to play music and he and I had always had a good time together but as time went on and I came into comtact with more and more Godly people, I was encouraged to study the Bible.

Through study of the word of God, the influence of Godly people and God's hand, I came back better than before.

I truly, with all my heart, believe that this was a move of God to pull me out of a dark pit.

I have been WOF 25+ years... I love it!
Jesus is Lord and Lord of ALL! All the WOF people I know are in fantastic spiritual shape. They love God and His Word, they are filled with the Spirit and striving to walk in the spirit every day. They have an excellent knowledge of His Word and the gospel. They are not bound by tradition or religion... rather they walk in the Light of the Father and his Word. Simply put WOF people are people who love the word of God. They know that God and His word are one. When we say we believe God, it means we believe His word. You cannot say you believe God, but then deny His word. He and His word are one.
Without exception, every person I have ever met who said they "were once WOF but walked away": cannot tell me accurately what WOF teaches. They are filled with misconceptions and misrepresentations about WOF that they picked up from "heresy hunter" websites. These same websites also call people like Billy Graham and Martin Luther heretics. In the end, you will find that they call everyone who does not agree with them on every point of their particular doctrine heretcs. If CF becomes very popular, you will find it on someones heretic list. Do a short Google search on any minister of your choice and you will find someone out there calling him and you a heretic. Bottom line: these folks are a very bad source of information.

This sort of conversation does nothing to bring anyone closer to Jesus or the truth. It only serves to cause division and strife. The stated goal of CF is to facilitate unity in the body. We can only pray that the Spirit aids us toward that goal.

I think this thread is based on the theology of these churches, rather than based on whether you liked it or not.

If this site is proven false, then it's evidence is false persecution to the WOF. However False doctrine is a serious offense that you must be aware of. False doctrine will lead a person to hell and it's something that must be taken up seriously. Even the accusations must be taken seriously.

Didaskalos, could you outline the reasons and doctrine teachings of WOF to prove that WOF is not teaching false doctrine, as opposed to stating everyone loves Jesus...which sounds a bit vague.

The evidence from the website shows quite clear evidence to me that there could be some sort of false doctrinal teachings happening. The whole purpose of the webpage could be to split up a church,
Matthew 5:30
And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
The split of the church isn't so bad these days, it's a sacrifice that Jesus obviously understands, and the pain involved, but it could be better that way!

Do Wofer's believe that:

We are sinners and fall short of the Glory of God?
We cannot earn our own righteousness before God thru works?
We need someone to pay for our dept before God?
We must repent from our sins and turn to Jesus for forgivness?
Jesus is the son of God?
Jesus was born sinnless and never sinned?
Jesus is God?
Jesus died for our sins and we are saved thru faith in Him alone?

Some others may say we can not be truly one until we believe in the real gospel.
