  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you know any children whose parent is deployed or going to deploy, I want to tell you about a free Sesame Street video for children of deployed soldiers.

It can be ordered or downloaded at militaryonesource.com and you'll see the link for the free video on the first page.

I ordered this a few weeks ago and I can't believe I cried over a Sesame Street video but I did. My son who is eight and considers himself above Sesame Street told me later he was really glad we got it. I watched him while he watched it and he looked sad when Elmo's daddy was deploying and so happy when his daddy came home. If anybody could relate, it's my son. The video prepares children for their parent's departure and has kids and families talking about the sorts of things they do while mommy or daddy is away.

I really recommend it. And, if you don't know somebody who is deployed, find somebody. Guarantee, that person has a family who could use all the support they can get.

God bless
