If you had to spend one year a country that is not your own which would it be?

I would absolutely love to spend a year in Ireland. I've wanted to visit that country since I first read about it when I was about nine years old. Since then, I've learned a lot about the country, and that makes me want to go there even more.

My second choice would be Italy. I've seen so many pictures, and the country is so beautiful. My best friend has relatives who live there, and we would love to go there together sometime.

The USA! Just because.
Good answer.

Maybe Iceland or Finland. Iceland because in one year I could become personally acquainted with every member of the nation. Finland because it's Finland. Otherwise I would create my own country, if possible. I'd call it "Pirateland" and it would be in the Mediterranean.

Maybe ........ or Finland. Finland because it's Finland.

Ahhhh, what an answer!

It's Christmas eve here, 10:47 am, and for some reason I had to log on to the CF to say merry Christmas to you all in Finnish! Crazy.

"HYVÄÄ JOULUA!"

P.S. Santa visits us some 7 - 10 hours earlier than most of the users of this board. :p So, in case you want to know what he looks like this year, does aging show in his beard length, is Rudolf still alive etc., call +358407565781781 and ask me. (the number may be incorrect). My sister just shouted from the living room that there is a different Santa on television than on earlier years. Think about that.

Haha. You better watch out! Come this summer it may actually happen! Then you might find a certain Amerikalainen at one of those big tent celebrations you spoke of.

What did I speak of?

This? -->

I think its great so many people would like to spend a year in lands far away from their native country and with very different cultures..whilst living in the states I found it hard to comprehend that many people never envisaged travelling any further than Canada, which to be fair is relatively similar to the US (compared to say Uganda,France or India) Here in the UK people love backpacking and visiting Asia,Africa and other parts of Europe. That is the way to be, the world is a big place,y not explore...finances permitting lol

If I could live anywhere else in the world for one year, it would be Australia. I have never been there, but I heard that the country is wonderful and the people are great.

The only other place I'd go would be Aruba. My family and I have been there many times and the island is beautiful. Aruba is a great place to be ;)

Great Post!!
