Define 'religion.'

But of course, Christianity as it is the path to God.

However, people have the right to free choice and in fact if they do not have it it is fundamentally anti-Christian; we are to be known by our Faith and by our personal relationship with God and not everyone will have that and so it should not be forced upon them.

If I had to choose one it would definitely be Christianity...

However, Christianity is not about forcing someone to follow Christ. A true Christian comes of his/her own will. God does not want someone who is fake. He does not want a false love.

So why would you choose Christianity, then, if Christianity isn't about being forced to believe?

The point was that even if you try to 'force' any religion on a person you cannot force their heart to accept or deny. That is a choice only that person can make. I chose Christianity obviously because I blieve it is the only true religion. No man will get to the Father but through Christ.

So you think it's perfectly okay to force Christianity on others, then?

You cannot force religion on anyone's heart. Even if you go through the 'actions' of being a Christian that does not make you a Christian. Your heart has to be in the right place with God.

The idea that everyone has to follow one particular religion is a seriously flawed hypothetical right off the bat...

I guess I'll pick Unitarian Universalism. There's no doctrine. You can believe in one God, a trinity of Gods, thousands of Gods, or no God. You can believe in a Savior or not. You can believe the Bible is history, folklore, or fiction. You can believe in Satan, in karma, or in bad luck. You can believe in a spiritual afterlife, in reincarnation, or when you're dead, you're dead. You have choices.

If everybody is gonna be forced to have one religion, then it should have as many options as possible. :)

You didn't answer my question. I wasn't talking about "forcing religion on someone's heart," I was talking about "forcing religion on people at all."

Can you name a society without a religion of any kind which isn't or wasn't Communist?

Can you name a society without a religion, period?

The societies you allude to were "without religion" because they were Communist; they didn't become Communist because they were without religion.

Yes, I did answer your question. Going to church every Sunday, taking communion, and doing various other 'Christian' things doesn't make you a Christian. Even if you force someone to 'walk through the actions' that does not make them a Christian on the inside. I do not think that religion in the full sense can be forced on anyone at all. Actions are not what determines ultimate salvation. If your heart is not in the right place, forcing the actions will do nothing.
