  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you could interview one person...

So I was laying in bed last night wide awake thinking about different threads I could make on CF (sad eh??) and I thought about this one.

My dream job has always been to be a music journalist, so my question to you guys is:

If you could choose to hang out/interview 1 band, or 1 artist who would it be, why, and what question(s) would you ask them??

I think that if I could interview one musician, it would be Dave Matthews. He is definately one of my main musical influences. I would ask him the following questions:

What inspired you to be a musician?
Why do you think its important to incorporate different musical styles in popular music?
Who is your favorite band/what is in your cd player?
Why did you choose the acoustic guitar over the electic guitar?

Those are just some of the questions that I can think of for the moment.

i, too, would pick dave.

i would have to ask him this:

-How do you feel about doing future projects oustide of dmb? Such as another solo record, or another dave and friends tour?
-How do you feel about what happened with the Lillywhite Sessions being leaked?
-Why didn't JTR and SUAD make the cut for Busted Stuff?
-how do you really feel about the Everyday record? (i don't think i'd ask him this, but i'd really like to know his answer)

i'll think of more questions later.

Like jb and Bryce, I'd go with Dave. In addition to the questions you guys have mentioned, I'd ask:

- What is Halloween really all about?
- How did the loss of Anne (his sister) affect your outlook on life and its meaning?
- Do you find it more enjoyable playing your solo shows, with the full band, with Tim Reynolds or with "the Friends"?
- Who is the music personality (musician, producer or the like) that has most influenced you and your growth as a musician?

i would interview Rob Halford (Judas Priest) or Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden)

Rob Halford:

As one of the first metal bands in the world, how hard was it to break into the music scene?
Judas Priest was formed in 1970 and still going, how have u kept together all these years?
What were your musical influences?

Bruce Dickinson:

Whats the best part of being one of the greatest metal bands in the world?
After leaving Maiden in 1993, what influenced you to want to come back?
What is your favourite Maiden song/album?
What gets you going before a gig?

Like many others, I would like to ask Dave:

Are you just amazed that a band as bland as yours is playing anything other than coffee-bars?

You might regret saying this later! :p

mase............i would like to know how he is (as he said) the solution for the hiphop culture. when he cant even represent Christ in his rhymes to save his life and yet pastors a church as he flaunts himself and not Christ.

I'd like to see how'd he'd answer that. Good question.
