That indicates how depraved they were in their culture before they were saved. They were boasting and bragging about a member of the church sleeping with his own mother. It was because of their pagan religion's training about wrongful sex that made them able to even boast. That has everythiong to do with their training in pagan temples where sex with temple prostitute...man, woman, child, or animal... was seen as a religious obligation!

Corinth was sin city of Rome. It was inundated with temples with their temple prostitutes for religious worship.

Its hard to fathom in the world we live in today that had been transformed by the church going into all the world (and shutting down such pagan practices).

If you read through 1 Corinthians chapter 5 through 8, you will notice, a pattern. Paul is talking to a church within a city that is steeped in idolatry and temple prostitution. He mentions, we have liberty with "meats" and "marriage". But, we are not to use our liberty in Christ as a stumbling block or to sin, HENCE, avoid eating meat in the idol's temple, avoid fornication (hinting at avoiding temple prostitutes and other forms of fornication).. Read the entire chapter of Hebrews 4, that verse 12 speaks of!!!

Now.. Here is another OT passage brought to a new meaning meant for us the church!



The Spirit gives what was written in the Law, New LIFE! Life for those who know how God works in this world we live in! Many applications of the righteous principles expressed by God are yet to be seen and understood as revealed in the OT.

Did I not show you how those two passages gave the Law new life? Its no longer the letter that kills. Not as long as you are filled with the Spirit, what OT touches for you is to open our eyes to be given new life! We walk in the Spirit. The Law is made alive as a new creation in Christ. The letter no longer kills when understood properly.

Well? ... maybe what Jesus said might enlighten you on this matter....


All it took for God to see that man in sin was for that man to simply "think it."

Now.. With that in mind? It all depends on what you are thinking while making out. What you think, God sees as happening as a reality. You must determine for yourself what that reality is in your heart.

We all want to be loved. Many will try to make it happen and end up becoming jaded.

Its got to be from God if its to be true love.


Making out many times is two people "working" at arousing love. It can be sweet. It can be gentle and nice. But, do not confuse affection for another for the love that comes from God. You will not have to do anything to arouse it when it comes from God. It will be by grace, not of works.

Not many find it because they want to follow the ways of the world. As we all have at some time in our lives.

We should all desire to keep growing in grace and knowledge to mature in Christ. With maturity comes the blessings.

It doesn't change the fact that the New Covenant (no divorce) replaced the Old Covenant (divorce). And you add to scripture saying the New Covenant permits it. No scripture = no faith = whatever is not of faith is sin.

What divorce? The Jews that believed in the Lord God have an eternal inheritance that they never lost. Abraham and David were given unconditional covenants. Its not the same as the Church's eternal inheritance. But, no divorce just the same.

He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Because God was not ready for giving the indwelling Holy Spirit in the age of the Jews, He made provision for the hardness of heart and made divorce as an option.

Today we are commanded not to be unequally yoked. If two married people get saved and one remains evil and rejects the Lord.. Its grounds for divorce. Would you have Satan sleeping in bed with the Lord?

Are you lusting? Are you wanting to perform the sexual act? If its the right person? You might feel that way also... But, love of a mature believer will refrain you. But, if its a person whom God would not have you to marry? You are on your own making up your own mind.

God sees our thoughts as actions. For when God thinks something, it happens. He is now training us for our eternal life. What we think is the issue. Not simply our overt actions. We must learn self discipline.

Some people self righteously think they do not sin because they never act upon their thoughts and desires. That was the sin of the Pharisees.

We are all sinners. We are to learn God's Word in depth so we can learn to relax in God's presence and not to condemn ourselves. When a believer gets to that place it really burns the devil who takes please in the power he feels in making a believer feel bad in guilt feelings.

That does not means we are free to sin. It means we must learn how to be free to serve God even though we can still sin. God knows we are still weak in our flesh. That is why He gives grace to the humble believer who has no illusions about themself.


While Paul was feeling his weaknesses, yet he boasted (befor all the accusing angels to hear) that God's grace was keeping him and enabling him... and even energizing him, to face them with righteous defiance!

Keep always in mind...

1 corithians 7
and to the "unmarried" and widows in hebrew it is agamos which could mean single, divorced or widowed.
are you bound to a wife "married" seek not to be loose " divorced" are you loosed from a wife "death or divorce" seek not a wife but if you do marry you Do Not Sin! Some will say that this only applies as widowed but why would someone seek a spouse to a point hoping for their death to be loosed? Also in hebrew launguage loosed can be refer to divorce equally to widowed. Even though most bible experts will disagree they cannot 100% disprove otherwise.
To avoid sexual immorality let every man have his own wife. Well not every man can have his own wife if he is divorced so the statement is true or false. But if Paul has previous married but now divorced in mind this statement works in harmony to remarry.
Ok finally I think a lot of bible experts twist this one too much and they get it dead wrong. A wife should not separate from her husband but if she does let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband and husbands dont divorce your wife.
First this has to understood in context. In corinth you had people coming to the faith from backgrounds involving sexual immorality. Paul had come to knowledge that married converts new to the faith was willing to depart from marriage to avoid even the sin of sex. Sex itself was deemed unholy and cutting marital ties was an option. Paul in return in his reply refuted this and letting them know that sex in marriage is good and assuring them that divorce is not the solution. To sum it up he advice the woman departed from her husband that seperation is at best but reconciling is the aim also husband don't divorce your wife. He was saying this to let new converts know that don't divorce for the sake of the gospel sake that what was the intent.
Now most will see this text as a proof text of no divorce no remarriage but when you see the context you can see how this is taking out of context.
Romans chapter 7 is taken out of context this is an analogy of the old covenant vs. the new covenant not some mere marital advice. But if you keep reading which most don't we die to the law and live in newness of the spirit. The law condemns us and we will never be justified by the law. Now if we say someone has to keep part of the law they are obligated to keep all of it. So this pretty much blows a lid in a proof text no divorce no remarry.
We are saved by faith alone in Christ alone not by some merited system of good works of law keeping. If this isn't true we are to keep all law in all aspects to sabbath keeping, tithing, food we eat even marital laws etc....

They usually must learn to. I messed up big time when I was younger.

Here is a key I needed to learn the hard way...


The Greek of that passage reveals an interesting attitude that God has for all men as he draws them in grace into salvation... . The word "teaching" is not the usual word used to describe a classroom situation. Its not about a teacher teaching students who are listening to learn. The Greek work for 'teaching' is about a different way to teach.

Its the kind of "teaching" that demands the one being taught learn the hard way. By allowing them to hurt themselves in making stupid decisions. In that manner they learn to strongly say "No!" to unrighteousness.

What I shared initially was only to maybe speed up a recovery after someone hurting themselves, after learning the hard way.

Maybe some will be so pure as to sidestep it... But, most will not. Many today are "truthless" in their youth and must bang their head against a wall a few times to learn not to go down that street again. These ones who learn by getting hurt .. From getting hurt these ones will eventually be reacting with a "NO!" when another opportunity comes their way.


There we have something from Grace!
