Arikay said:Yet your eyes and intellect are the ones reading genesis and claiming that it Must be taken literally. Maybe they are decieving you.
This is actually AiG's approach to the matter (if any evidence contradicts their preconsieved ideas, the evidence is ignored), and it has led them to lying to keep their claim. Just don't become like them.
Again, do you think snakes can talk?
So, according to your interpretation of the passage, the devil is the serpent. So, also according to your interpretation, the devil has no legs and eats dust.Skillz151 said:Genesis 3: 13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
Genesis 3: 14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
Genesis 3 : 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
God is talking to satan.... NOT A FREAKIN' SNAKE. So if the serpent was a literal snake than you can conclude that there is enmity between a literal snake's seed and the woman's seed.... Come on....
I don't think so....
There is enmity between Satan's followers and the Churches followers. The snake symbolizes Satan and his seed... and the Woman represents the church and 'her' seed.
And yes, "it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel". This is speaking about the coming Saviour Jesus Christ.
I sure do.......ones being used by God, Satan or other....Arikay said:Again, do you think snakes can talk?
Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey, and went off with the noblemen from Moab. As he was going, though, God's anger flared. The angel of GOD stood in the road to block his way. Balaam was riding his donkey, accompanied by his two servants. When the donkey saw the angel blocking the road and brandishing a sword, she veered off the road into the ditch. Balaam beat the donkey and got her back on the road. But as they were going through a vineyard, with a fence on either side, the donkey again saw GOD's angel blocking the way and veered into the fence, crushing Balaam's foot against the fence. Balaam hit her again.
GOD's angel blocked the way yet again--a very narrow passage this time; there was no getting through on the right or left. Seeing the angel, Balaam's donkey sat down under him. Balaam lost his temper; he beat the donkey with his stick.
Then GOD gave speech to the donkey.
She said to Balaam: "What have I ever done to you that you have beat me these three times?" Balaam said, "Because you've been playing games with me! If I had a sword I would have killed you by now."
The donkey said to Balaam, "Am I not your trusty donkey on whom you've ridden for years right up until now? Have I ever done anything like this to you before? Have I?" He said, "No."
Then GOD helped Balaam see what was going on:
He saw GOD's angel blocking the way, brandishing a sword. Balaam fell to the ground, his face in the dirt.
GOD's angel said to him: "Why have you beaten your poor donkey these three times? I have come here to block your way because you're getting way ahead of yourself. The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If she hadn't, I would have killed you by this time, but not the donkey.
I would have let her off." Balaam said to GOD's angel, "I have sinned. I had no idea you were standing in the road blocking my way. If you don't like what I'm doing, I'll head back." But GOD's angel said to Balaam, "Go ahead and go with them. But only say what I tell you to say--absolutely no other word." And so Balaam continued to go with Balak's nobles.

I beleive in talking donkeys too
that is one awesome story

I dont HAVE to show you a thing sir......
youre to lazy to study it yourself and understand.......thats not my problem
Arikay said:You do if you want to honestly stick to the claim you are taking the bible literally and don't trust anything else.
So you are right, you don't have to show me anything but by not showing me anything the idea that you don't add stuff to the bible goes down the drain.
your choice.
jobob said:did i just show you the talking donkey.....you surely cant be so dense as to think the donkey was given speech and a serpent could not.....
come on arikay, I know even you can put 2 and 2 together...
then why is death called an enemy? I'm not sure where, but in the New Testament it is written, "The last enemy to be destroyed will be death." The enemy of spiritual death has already been destroyed, by your defenition: Christians can have God in their hearts. Also, all those animals that (supposedly) died before Adam certainly went through pain, suffering, and fear--for no reason, apparently.Simple. Death is not the "evil" you make it out to be. Death is simply part of life. You are born and the second law of thermodynamics guarantees that you will die sometime.
What about the part where God says that Adam will live by the sweat of his brow, and htat thistles will infest the ground to hold it against him? Or that Eve will have pain childbirth? That sounds like a magor change to me.There's nothing in the text to support the Fundamentalist theory that all of creation was changed.
Arikay said:and it had nothing to do with my question.
You said that the snake could talk if it was being used by god or satan or someone else. So I asked you to show me where in genesis is claims the snake was being used by someone?
You have not shown me this, yet. If you can't show me where it says in genesis that the snake was being used by someone, then we must assume that the snake was talking under its own power. Since god never took away the snakes speaking power, then we should think that snakes of today can talk.
Or do you take the bible "literally" but not "literally"?
I guess Balaam's talking donkey and Mr. Ed got together to produce Francis the talking Mule.jobob said:did i just show you the talking donkey.....you surely cant be so dense as to think the donkey was given speech and a serpent could not.....

So are you looking for a snake and a donkey that talks in King James English? There are lots of people today that will tell you that they talk to their pets. I do not think the situation here is very much different from that.Arikay said:Or do you take the bible "literally" but not "literally"?
Physically God was in heaven, but let's not forget that God is omnipresent. He was as much on the earthas Satan was.Not according to a literal reading of Job. God sits up in heaven and Satan is the one wandering about on earth. If Satan had wanted the sores to kill Job, there's nothing in the text of Job to suggest Satan could not have done that. As I said, Satan is God's betting buddy there, not the betrayer of the serpent in Genesis 3.
Job 1:12 "All right," the Lord said to Satan, "everything he has is in your power, but you must not hurt Job himself."
Does he? I remember Job cursing hte day he was born, complaining to God as to why he even brought him into the world, and expressing anger at his painful trial. But when his wife told him, "Curse God and die," Job asked, "Are we to accept the good from God's hand, and not the bad as well?"Of course, Satan then wins the bet, because Job begins cursing God, just as Satan predicted!

I know that I either have a active imagination, or I communiate with the animals and birds from time to time. I know I was working on the building the other day around where a bird has it's nest and she was sitting on a wire squawking away at me, telling me what she thought about the whole situation.
