Such example would be let's say Walgreens without a cashier. And if people who went to Walgreens for an item were to honestly pay for the item by putting the right amount of cash into a collector. What would we have here?

Walgreens wouldn't have to hire a cashier, saving expenses, and possibly lowering prices of items. Because a significant expense in business is employees.

So as a whole society benefits the business and the consumer, given if there is no job shortages in other areas of the economy. If the economy were so bad that Walgreens was the only job someone could find then there's something wrong here. But what would create such a scenario?

Well if companies didn’t have to hire people to work there that would mean less jobs. There would be no retail jobs—in any industry, no law enforcement or military—which would literally destroy the entire economy.

People will always steal until Jesus comes back and sin goes away.

No hope. It's more likely that you'll walk through a payment point and money will be automatically deducted from your account, from your mobile phone perhaps. The sticking point is scanning the products. Cheap RFID can't cope with every product type right now. Will it happen? Technically, it is possible. For now, too expensive.

Self-checkout systems do 90% of that. They verify bar codes and weights, but still assume honesty about what kind of vegetable that was.

But the economy was already that bad before COVID-19. Machines like this do increase unemployment.

People are honest? Yes, that would mean the end of many kinds of work.

And if people were all-forgiving . . . there would not be all the tall city buildings which are for keeping track of debts.

Not only would there be less jobs, but less buildings . . . for holding police headquarters, for financial record keeping, and court houses.

And so there would not be the construction jobs for putting up such buildings.

And what if people were honest, by not evaluating women only or mainly by what they look like? What would that do to having beauty pageants and cosmetics and hair stylists? I mean, I see that there can be honest ways of loving . . . versus loving which comes from what people look like.

Honest perception could effect how much we feel we need to own, and how big our houses need to be.

"be content with such things as you have" > in Hebrews 13:5.

Honesty might keep a person from justifying arguing.

Honesty doesn’t always mean good. Sometimes the truth is unpleasant. Do you want to know what a person really thinks and feels? If they’re honest they’ll tell you. But grace and love may inhibit the admission.

Do you want to know how much we value our neighbor? Or if we want to give to the needy or serve others?

Anything taken to excess can be detrimental. The world wouldn’t be perfect if we were honest. We’d have license to say and do what we restrain. Faith, laws, and societal conditioning play a part in reigning that in. As does self-control.

People often assume the utopic when Pandora Box’s is opened. But the results rarely mirror the ideals they entertained. You cannot have totally honesty without weighing the consequences of totality.
