If there is a loving God then why there is so much suffering?

Perhaps, ilwjc, you do not fully understand the spiritual journey most people are involved in. I have experienced this lack of comprehension from many fervent Christians. Speaking for myself, I can say that I am doing what I can to end suffering for myself and for all sentient beings. The path, however, is not the one that you, other Christians, or the Bible says is true or capable of leading to salvation. However, and this may be difficult to accept, my path is just as valid to me as yours is to you.

Good luck on your journey. With metta,

People are either on their way to life or death. Life is found only in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the way the truth and the life and he said if any man who believes in him shall never die.
No other has or can make this statment and it mean anything.
There are many religions, my friend, but all the hope of the universe is in Jesus Christ and what he said.
No religion can offer what he did.

In response to the OP.....Pain is the fuel of passion, it energizes us with an intensity to change that we don't normally possess. C.S. Lewis said, "pain is God's megaphone". It is God's way of arousing us from spiritual lethargy. Your problems are not punishments; they are wake up calls from a loving God."

God is not mad at you, but he's mad about you and will do whatever it takes to bring you back into fellowship with him.

God himself suffered just as we suffer. Of course this question comes up time and time again, and though i can't find a way to explain why there is so much human suffering.
I do feel most of it is at the hands of us humans. As for illnesses and accidents, well we all have our time to go. Some sooner than others, and really only God knows why this is. I think people who are religious, pain and suffering is something we know we have to go through. We have our faith to help us deal with the pain, we have God to ease our aching hearts, and we have hope that one day we will have a true understanding of the things in this life that we have no answer to now.
Through all suffering and pain, we must have hope that something good can come out of it. A murder child may invoke 200 people to become crime fighters and save 20,000 people. A starving child in Africa may invoke a 1,000 people to become missionaries, A drunk driver who killed a person may devote their life to teach others not to be as stupid as they were, saving 5,000 lives. A child who loose their mother to cancer may become a doctor and save 1,000. I know the pain and loses i have gone through has made me reach out and try and help others. And although many things have broken my heart in life, i still carry on and have trust that one day, maybe my pain will influence my children to do good and carve out a career where they too can reach out to others. Peace be with you.

For example, kids from Chernobyl getting cancer while they didn't do anything and the ones responsible are not suffering. Why is that?

(What the atheists, pagans, jews, christians, and muslims have to say on this?)

My perspective is this: however hard life is for anyone, God is there with them on their path through their suffering. I am not saying this as someone who has never suffered. I have suffered a lot in my life. I can testify to the presence of God through my suffering.

Jesus suffered far worse than most people ever will, yet throughout, he was aware of and sustained by the presence of the Father.
