No-one speaks King James langauge anymore. Good for reference but if you get into it too heavily you will become irrelevant.

Of course, even a "word for word" translation reflects translators' "biases." In fact, even the choice of trying to translate "word for word" instead of "thought for thought" or even by paraphrase involves some degree of translator bias.

This is true, without doubt!

I guess for me its trying to find the type and style of translation that limits the possibility of this to manageable proportions. And a Strongs is indispensible...

A pastor suggested to us (my husband and I) that we get the NASB because of it's accuracy. By the time we got to the Bible store, we forgot the initials that he suggested. lol. We looked and looked and for some reason we thought he said NLT (New Living Translation). The pastor at the church we got saved at suggested that we get the NIV-Life Application Bible. I went and got that one too. I love both versions. It's nice to have all the translations online.
