I've yet to see any of the anti-Potters here prove where there is blood-drinking or actual magic used which is specifically condemned in Scripture.

I believe I challenged as much. Is it that hard?

"Fiction about a magical world"? Are you kidding? Not only are there SEVERAL REAL PLACES mentioned in the Potter books, but there are also SEVERAL REAL PEOPLE mentioned as well. Funny thing...these REAL PEOPLE were REALLY involved IN THE OCCULT and CHILDREN are now inquiring about them. Here's a two-part video series that will give you the names of some of these REAL OCCULTISTS who are mentioned in the Potter books and also some details on how CHILDREN are being sucked into THE OCCULT as a result of reading them.

A lot of them are probably sucked into it just hearing some of the stories in the Bible.
If you were put in charge of burning books in the US, would the only book you would keep from being burned be the Bible?

This site also says that computer viruses are caused by demons named Boyce or something and that children's toys and imaginations are demonic:

It seems just about everything is a sin to Christians. I'm amazed internet posting on message boards and demonbuster sites is acceptable protocol for these holy people.

The Bible always portrays such things as witchcraft, sorcery, wizardry, etc. in a NEGATIVE way. For example, we read:

Exodus 22:18

"Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live."

Leviticus 20:6

"And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a-whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people."

Leviticus 20:27

"A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them."

I Samuel 15:23

"For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry."

Galatians 5:19-20

"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelllings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God."

That's just a small sample. Witchcraft is sin. God condemned witches and wizards. Those who practice witchcraft shall not inherit the kingdom of God. I could also speak of Pharaoh's magicians who withstood Moses, Elymas the sorcerer who withstood Paul and a host of others. How any of these examples would possibly "suck children into the occult" as you suggest is simply beyond me. Conversely, in Rowlings' books, where "good wizardry" (there's no such thing) is contrasted with "bad wizardry" (it's all bad), well...you get the picture, don't you?

I would never burn anyone's books but my own. My point was that those who had books about "curious arts" or magic willfully burned their own books after they heard of the account of the man with the evil spirit in him and the sons of Sceva.

Anyhow, as I said on one of these threads (it might have been this one), my own wife was studying/practicing to be a witch in her native country before we got married. Also, several generations of her family were practicing witches themselves. I've seen the relationship between witchcraft and demons with my very own eyes. It's not something to be played with.

Franklee, some Christians also over-react to what they perceive as danger, when in reality, no danger is actually present except in their own minds. Reading Harry Potter will not lead kids into the occult. Reading the works of Anton LaVey will. Why don't you go gripe about how easy it is to get his books and leave J.K. Rowling's works alone. I mean she did a great thing with the Harry Potter series. She got kids interested in reading again.

Revelation 12:3 And was seen another Sign in the heaven and behold! a great fiery red Dragon, having seven heads and ten horns. And upon the heads of him seven diadems.

This was an excellent dragon movie IMHO

Well I don't think the Bible is trying to refer to any real dragon, but it probably is trying to refer to what is perceived as real magic.

Witchcraft isn't merely a "cultural" thing. It's a demonic thing. Incidentally, I've personally met quite a few practicing witches right here in the United States of America.

Anyhow, I'm probably done with this thread. I posted two videos which do a good job, as far as I'm concerned, of explaining the inherent dangers of the Harry Potter books/movies. Whether any of you take the time to watch them or not is entirely up to you. I can only answer for myself and hopefully affect at least the members of my own household. IOW, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Such "service", at our end, doesn't include any witches, wizards, sorcerers, magicians, etc., etc. UNLESS we're to confront them/it with the gospel or power of JESUS CHRIST as Moses, Paul and others who have gone before us have done. As I said, many of my relatives on my wife's side come from a strong background of witchcraft. I've used whatever opportunities that I've had to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them. In fact, I preached a sober salvation message at my own wedding where many of them were in attendance.
