I would be more shocked if Darwin wasn't racist; in fact, you'd be hard pressed to find people during that time who openly weren't racist. I don't see why it is relevant.

Not dominant, those that reproduce successfully. No one would accuse fruit flies of being dominant in any context, yet they can go from 1 fly to thousands within a month.
