not suicidal, just curious.

If a Christian commits suicide, do they really go to hell for it? I know Jesus's blood covers all sins including suicide but I also know that you do not have the right to commit suicide because all life belongs to god and god only.

I also heard some people say this: If you know that suicide is a grave sin against God and choose to do it anyway, then that would not be trusting in Jesus; that would be abusing the gift that He is graciously granting you. If anyone willfully chooses to commit suicide despite knowing that it is a grave sin, the end result will almost certainly be hell for that person.

Question: What truly happens if a Christian commits suicide?

Ps if you are thinking about suicide please get help! Talk to anybody! Anybody!

Nowhere does the Bible say suicide = automatic damnation.

"If you know that suicide is a grave sin against God and choose to do it anyway,..."
- A lot of those who "choose" to commit suicide aren't thinking rationally at the time. They are often simply overwhelmed with emotional stress and just aren't thinking clearly. I would think a just God would take that into consideration.

Plus, what about someone committing suicide to save others? Like a soldier throwing himself on a grenade to save others. Jesus Himself said, "greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." - John 15:13. That doesn't sound like Jesus is condemning them to hell for such an act. Jesus did, in fact, lay down His own life. Did Jesus sin? I don't think so.

You go straight into the loving arms of God.

There are no such things as big or little sins. In they eyes of God all sins are equal. Now James 2:10 tell us that if we obey the law, yet fall short in one area, we are guilty of breaking all. In God's eyes, a person who lies, is just as guilty as a person who kills.

I was taught growing up that a person who would commit suicide would straight to Hell - no questions asked. Because the idea was that you wouldn't be able to confess that sin before you die, and get it covered by the blood of Jesus. The fact is that all of our sins have been forgiven, and that means our past, present and even future tense sins have already been forgiven. Yes, even the sin of committing suicide/self murder is covered by the blood of Jesus.

Those who you state that suicide, or sins in general, send you to Hell, what they are really saying is that ours sins are more powerful than Christ's sacrifice. Which we all know that is wrong.

Plus, all sin we commit is done willfully. No one is forcing us to commit a sin, so if you are thinking about Hebrews 10:26, then none of us would get into heaven. To sin willfully is the wilful rejection of one's salvation.

Also, sin isn't just what we do wrong, but it's also the good that we don't do as well. James 4:17 tells us that if we ignore doing good things, we sin. So if God sees all sins as equal, then a person who doesn't help the poor is just as guilty as someone who murders. Yikes.

Thank God for Jesus.

My belief after deeply studying the bible and this topic is suicide is a sin that sends you to hell. You are indeed saved by Jesus. However your life is precious and important. By killing ones self it means you have no faith or hope in the Lord and seek freedom by hoping you go to heaven after suicide.

There are those who say but its a sin that doesn't actually send you to hell because Gods not like that. But to the contrary, if suicide meant we could go to heaven sooner then what is stopping all of us christian from mass suicide just to see Jesus? I mean why bother with life since we know life will not be easy? Its because most people know suicide is not a trip to heaven. We also know God would not have made us capable of suicide to see Him and yet also claim to not give up and to have hope and faith. Because that would be contradicting His own Word.

In easier terms He tells us to make it to the finish line no matter how hard life is. To have faith and hope in Him that at the end, we will finally be at peace. So suicide = heaven is making God a liar.

My parents and I have this argument alot. My mom is sometimes dramatic but often claims she wants to kill herself. I tell her she won't see me in heaven if she does. My dad argues thats not true. I tell them I never committed suicide because I feared if I was wrong (before I switched views) I'd end up in hell and have no way to correct my mistake of suicide. Is it really worth the risk of losing out on heaven? I don't think it is.

This verse from Paul's 1st letter to the Corinthians is in the context of sexual immorality but I think the idea has relevance here: Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (1 Corinthians 6)

Also we should consider that this life is to eternity what the womb is to this life.

The things that happen to us in utero don't make a whole lot of sense from the perspective of the infant in the womb until one realises that these things are not for life in the womb but are rather for life in the outside world.

In much the same way we too have trouble making sense of our lives here and now and many of us suffer circumstances and illnesses that make us wish we weren't here.

But we should trust our Creator Father to bring us to full term in His wisdom so that we might be fully formed in our resurrection.

Paul wrote: Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. (Romans 5)

We hang on to the hope then and do not auto-abort in order to escape the very things that are developing us into the Children of God.

Hebrews 10:1-18 It's a long read, but sums everything up perfect about what happened to our sin.

For since the law has but a shadow of the good things to come instead of the true form of these realities, it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered, since the worshipers, having once been cleansed, would no longer have any consciousness of sins? 3 But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year. 4 For it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.

5 Consequently, when Christ]">[a] came into the world, he said,

“Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired,
but a body have you prepared for me;
6 in burnt offerings and sin offerings
you have taken no pleasure.
7 Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come to do your will, O God,
as it is written of me in the scroll of the book.’”

8 When he said above, “You have neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings” (these are offered according to the law), 9 then he added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. 10 And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ]">[b] had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet. 14 For by a single offering he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.

15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,

16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my laws on their hearts,
and write them on their minds,”

17 then he adds,

“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”

18 Where there is forgiveness of these, there is no longer any offering for sin.

Suicide is a sin just like every other sin out there. Which according to these passages has already been forgiven.

Really, but you just said you were not :(

We'll my brother, if you truly are, then I'll pray for you. I suffered with suicide many years ago, and I have the scars to prove it. It isn't fun, but just know that God loves you very much, and that suicide isn't his best for you. There is so much that God wants to reveal to you, and so much of his love that he wants to show you. God helped me through my suicide and he will defiantly help you with it as well. This is the time where you need to lean on him the most, because I did, and he changed my life forever.

Is suicide murder? If you do not think it is murder, explain how it is not.

Think of these verses I will post as I explain.

2 Corinthians 5:10

The reality is that each person must face the consequences of their own actions. Truth ought to be faced because we can learn lessons even from the mistakes others have made. Just as the Bible records the failings of man, we can learn that some decisions have bad outcomes.

1 Corinthians 10:6-12.

If suicide is murder, can you repent and confess of your sin after you take it?

1 John 5:16-17

A short summary is that any sin for which a person is unrepentant and unacknowledged is a sin that leads to spiritual death. By its very nature, suicide, which is a form of murder, makes it difficult to repent of and ask God forgiveness as John instructed.

1 John 1:9

But we cannot make a blanket statement that suicide is unforgivable. There are many who nearly succeed, but are snatched back from the jaws of death. When such a person turns their back on the sin that they attempted, they are forgiven, just as any other sinner is forgiven.

In answer to your particular question, I am unable to give the final answer. I have never been there when someone made their final decision, and even if I was present, I would not have the ability to determine the sincerity of said persons heart.

1 Corinthians 4:4-5

What I can tell you is what God has revealed to each of us what we must do in order to be saved. People who chose suicides option, their life has ended. Their destiny is sealed.

Hebrews 9:27

But our lives still lie wide open before us. We shouldn't throw away what God has given us, but use our lives to His glory.

That's very true. I just don't want to live in a world that is all technology and no nature. Especially when technology makes us live forever, like humaitech.com. AlsoI do not want to live in a days where earth gets over heated via global warming when it can potentially wipe all human life away. But I still have faith in Jesus's second coming.

No one will live forever in this physical plain. God has saw to this just read your bible.

We will not be the cause of the earth being destroyed. God will be that cause.

Well since you say your suicidal let me tell you regardless of what ones view is on it, its not worth it. I won't even get into the pain issues or other issues if you mess it up, but you will leave more hurt behind then you will ever know. I don't know what you think but some who are suicidal think "I don't have anyone that cares about so it won't hurt anyone!", but thats not true. There is always someone hurt by it. You never know how many people care about you because alot of times we never find out.

In this case I don't know you at all but if you took your life I would be sad. I'd live with "Did I give him bad advice? What if I had worded things different? Did I make it worse for him or better?". I'd also be sad because I know the suicide route. I was suicidal for years. If at the time I had known what a wonderful future I had ahead of me, I would have never considered it. Things can change, even when all else seems impossible. Hence my name on here. Nothing is impossible with God.

While I don't know whats going on in your life I can tell you my life at times is horrible. I have so many health issues that I can't work yet get mocked all the time because people think I fake it. I have one dead kidney now. I have 20+ severe migraines a month where I wish I could knock myself out. My wife lost our baby (miscarriage), my dads surgery isn't working out now, I may be losing something I need to to pay the bills, my wifes health is not that great.....etc.

BTW not trying to compare stories or anything. Just saying life is hard sometimes.... unbelievable hard. Suicide is not the answer though. Jesus is the answer. Just have faith, hope and strength in Him. Know people do care about you! And are praying for you!

There are many near death experiences about suicide. Please look them up. You need to speak to your Pastor. Pray and rebuke the spirit of suicide in Jesus name. Take care.
