  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

IE 6 or 7? also Java ?

Then again, since unlike Netscape and FireFox, Microsoft does have to contend with producing operating systems and providing support for older ones, they sort of don't have the time to devote to newer stuff like FireFox has.
Maybe they should make IE optional in their operating systems then...

Are you serious?

Microsoft has more money than any other company in the world. They hire thousands of developers and they release an Operating System that hardly does one tenth of what Linux OSes do by default.

On the other hand, Firefox is run by the Mozilla Foundation and is mostly developped by volunteers, as most open-source software.

Can you explain me how a company releasing a not-so-good half-of-a-basic-OS with as much money as they want can get to not provide proper features while a few volunteers with almost no money can do much better?

Let's be serious ;)

Simply put = if MS can sell a low-quality product to the unsuspecting consumer for a metric crapload of money, they'll do it. People involved with open-source software and do largely volunteer work often have a perfectionist streak, genuinely care about what they're doing, or actually take pride in their work, or any combination of the above. I know there's a psychological explanation for it, but people that have a sense of worth and higher purpose are more likely to put their all into developing something or doing a task than one whose only motivation is to get paid.

I know that what you said was more than likely rhetorical, but I felt like answering it anyway.

Well, looks like someone saved me from answering that question.

Microsoft is more concerned about ensuring an influx of cash than producing an OS that's got few to no problems with it and putting some effort into their work; the amount of patches they have to release to keep Windows machines going speaks for itself.
