• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I recently had a season where I wasn't very close to God and so I began to unconsciencly idolize a band and obsess over them and such, but I went to a Christian conference which got me back on track. So now, how can I turn my thoughts from that band to thoughts to God? And can I still listen to that band's music, or should I completely stop listening to them?
I want to follow and glorify God, not that particular band, but I don't exactly know how.

One might well join with those who sing Godly and proven praises to God from and by the heart in church meetings. A band adds nothing to real worship or Godly instruction, and certainly a worldly band will be much like the alluring tones of Satan to reach the emotions of man and deceive (see Gen. 3). We need to know something of "the wiles of Satan". Surround yourself in your social and Christian life with the saints of God in a Godly Bible-only fellowship, and you will become a faithful worshiper and much pleasing to God in your life in this world ---providing you know God (see John 14).

I can not imagine my life without music in it. I have been a Beatles fan since I was 5 way back in 1966, and have a massive cd collection with everything from classic rock - to 1920s vocalists and everything in between.

Do what you think and feel is right. Meditate on it, the answer you seek will come to you.
