I do not believe in infinite regression of cause-effect sequence. I am left to believe that the existence of cause-effect sequence begs an efficient cause.

I'm going to loosen up my nomenclature here; I am left to believe that the existence of that which changes begs the existence of that which cannot change. I am left to believe that the existence of that which has the potential to not exist begs the existence of that which cannot not exist.

You use the word "beg" in a non-standard way.

beg:

1. when intr, often foll by for to solicit (for money, food, etc), esp in the street
2. to ask (someone) for (something or leave to do something) formally, humbly, or earnestly ⇒ I beg forgiveness ⇒ I beg to differ
3. (intr) (of a dog) to sit up with forepaws raised expectantly

By "beg" do you mean "imply"?

imply:

1. to express or indicate by a hint; suggest ⇒ "what are you implying by that remark? "
2. to suggest or involve as a necessary consequence
3. logic to enable (a conclusion) to be inferred

You might be making a substantive point, but your arguments are tied up in word games. Let me try pointing them out, and then maybe you can clear it up.

In other words, to regress there must exist progress; infinite regression prohibits progression.

Conceived this way, yes, regression implies some kind of finite starting point. Instead of infinite regression, let's say that time isn't bounded in the past. This should clear up semantic tension between a progress/regress dichotomy.

Again, regression also implies change. Anything subject to change is, by definition, subject. Anything subject is, by definition, finite.

You could as easily say that something that is something unchanging is subject to stasis, and by being subject, it is finite.

Infinite change cannot be actualized. Any change for an infinite would be either from finite to infinite or infinite to finite; both are self-defeating.

I'm not convinced that's the case. For example, something cyclical could be infinite. It changes over the short term, but not the very long term.
