  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It is a very reasonable argument that only criminals need to fear having their whereabouts constantly known.

But what is a criminal?

You may not be a criminal today. But what if the government ruling over wherever you live passes a new law tomorrow that makes you a criminal?

Whereas in the past, homosexual activity was a crime, in many English speaking countries it is now a crime to even say it is evil.

Hitler did not assume power by force. He was elected by popular vote. But after he assumed power, it became a crime to even be a member of a certain race.

Any government may make a law that something you value above your own life is illegal. That is why it would be foolhardy to allow any government to gain the power to totally enforce any law they might be pleased to enact.

These reasons are among ones I would think it would be a bad idea.

It wasn't security at any cost though. As I said, I was very sceptical of it, but I find it hard to see how it would adversely affect the innocent if implemented wisely. I suggest it because it seems to give alot of security with little loss to the innocent

If implemented wisely. Exactly. Who is to say that the government, or anyone else, will use my information wisely?

But I am suggesting that the chips only be used to solve crime. Would you object to the police asking you questions if you were near the scene of a crime? If not then what is your problem with them knowing who was in the area when the crime happened?

I wouldn't object to the asking of questions, but I'd object to them knowing the answer beforehand through covert surveillance.

The notion that innocent people have nothing to hide (correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems to be the point) is absurd. The issue is, firstly, do you want someone (and potentially everyone) to know everything about you? And, secondly, can any person, organisation or government be trusted with that information? How do I know my locations will not be sold to companies so they know how to advertise at me, e.g. "your nearest McDonalds is ___" or "you're often near ___ so you may need ___"?

I can't believe this thread! Innocent people would have a LOT to fear, as soon as an evildoer gets into the government, and you can depend on that to happen within five years (my guess would be one year) after the chipping program started.

....wait, dishonest and overall bad people aren't in the government now? When did this start?

I'm aware of corporate chains too, and frequently take potshots at them on my Blogspot (maybe that's why Google isn't supporting it with AdSense as promised). However, Big Government is unlikely to rescue us from Big Business. I've lived in Washington and worked with both, and they're actually hard to tell apart!
