  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Anyone have ideas of ways to serve God through photography? I love taking pictures exspecially of sunrises, sunsets, flowers, and anything else unique. But I don't know of ways to serve God with my hobby. I do think through capturing Gods creation that is serving/prasing him but I wanna be more bold.

I'm interested in the answer to this myself! If you're doing something that God gave you the talent and the desire to do, then that's a way of serving Him. You can also use the opportunities you have to talk to people about what you do to share Him with others. Just keep praying for those chances!

Depending on what programs you have you can add scripture to the pictures, merge images together.

I would think helping out with the photography with your local church would also be welcoming. And any areas that are important to you specifically- Special Olympics, charity fundraisers, missionaries, etc. You're definitely right, it's a complex talent to have and try to work with.

Like Fieldmouse said, simply taking your photographs can be service to God. It doesn't always have to directly involve other people.

I recently created my official photo-book (designed through www.photoworks.com) and am ordering my first sample. If the quality is as good as it is advertised I will create a second version that will consist of Bible verses under each photograph.

Then I may order a handful and give them to my church and the groups I attended while I was at school. Maybe just something to pass around to help inspire others.

On the same note, I may also create a smaller, paperback version for people to actually purchase.

I'm not sure if you're into the business end of photography or just a hobby, but you could easily produce hi-quality prints and frame/matt them with Bible versus and offer them to the church. You could do it to help your business, or give the proceeds back to the church.

But the most important, and sometimes most difficult, thing is simply to conduct yourself in a Godly manner. People always notice that.

I love to take photos of nature because I simply and greatly adore our Heaven;y Fathers' creation. Putting verses on the photo are most grand, and even trying to find in His creation things such as crosses(like a tree that grew into that shape, rare but possible) or even an animal(like monkeys) when their hands are clasped together as if in prayer ^_^ just a few thoughts

I agree with the other suggestions here. They're all good ideas. I really like the ideas of making your own calanders or post cards or photo books with scriptures and things on them. Donating framed photos to charity auctions or fundraisers or interior decorating for hospitals and the likes is always nice. A couple months ago, my sister had her baby and the room was pretty depressing! All I could think of was "I wonder if they'd accept donated photos or something to put on these walls and make this a happy place.." Another thing, if you're trying to sell your photos or do more than just portraits and weddings, you could look through a marketing book and find specifically buyers of the Christian or church nature. I have a book I try to get each year called "The Photographers Market Guide." It lists everything from calander companies to magazines to stock buyers, who to contact, what they accept, etc. I've found it very useful.. There are several Christian based magazines and other companies I can think of right off hand that buy freelance photography.

Good luck in finding what you like!
