I just registered as a member, and I can't believe there isn't a single topic on Ico at a gaming forum of this size.

I believe Ico is the most beautiful video game ever made. (Now I don't like to make grandiose endorsement like that. I would never presume to know the greatest novel or the greatest film. But here I must make an exception.) It unfolds like a classic fairy tale--dreamily enchanting, adventurous, full of heart, but packed with awe-inspiring spectacles that will make you wish you were there. In artistry and emotional impact there is not a game out there that comes even close. Ico delivers a thrill altogether different from the sort we usually expect from a video game.

Browsing through the forum, I see quite a few people are concerned whether certain games are suitable for Christians. I encourage them to try Ico, though it is a bit hard to find because it didn't sell very well. Afterwards you will likely be anxious to have your own children/nephews/nieces play it.

If you need more introduction, I will be happy to oblige. But I suggest you read some professional reviews of the game on the Web. Then you will know my praise is neither exaggerated nor mine alone.

I have. I just bought it yesterday. Though I've been wanting to get it for a long time, ever since I heard about it actually. And yes the aforementioned praise from LeeEliot is not exaggerated, well except for the part about it being the most beautiful video game ever made. That I would have to disagree with, and of course if was true it wouldn't stay... But anyway, I would highly recommend it as well.

Artsy video games. Hurray! I hope this starts a trend.

Check out GameSpot's review starting with this great quote frome the reviewer."At a moment when cheap visual fluff is all too often framed by derivative game mechanics, ICO stands sound and elegant." - Miguel Lopez

Check out the rest of the review.

Argon88, have you finished the game yet? I hope you take your time, because the first time through the game is the most special. Replaying just won't feel the same.

And by "the most beautiful" I didn't just mean looks, though Ico looks gorgeous. I meant the overall experience of the game--the feelings of wonder it arouses, the elegant presentation, the at once intimate and epic atmosphere, and the way it "tells" a fascinating story with almost no dialogue, etc. I am no game expert so I wouldn't presume to know which game is the best, but I know no other games permeated so thoroughly, seamlessly with beauty in every aspect.

No, I haven't finished the game. I just got to where Yorda's mother showed up, I hope I'm not very fare in it. Actually don't tell me, it would be like my little brother telling me how little running time left their was when we went to see Return of the King. Horribly annoying I can tell you. But of course he does similar things with Ico. "This game is so stupid, I mean you lead a physically challenged girl through the entire game. She can't even clime chains!" He doesn't understand it at all and it's annoys me the way he treats it so callously. Yes, we have big fights over this sort of thing. :D

Okay then, if that's what you define beautiful as I totally agree, it is a beautiful game. Wow, it is a masterpeace! That's very high praise coming from me, I'm a critic. It has joined my small but star studded list of favorite games. Yes, it's one of the best games I've ever played. ;) :D

Hey since you liked this one so much and I liked it so much, what are some of your other favorite games?
