I normally NEVER get ice in any of my drinks because I don't like them watered down.
On the news a couple days ago, I was watching the news and according to the organization which deals with food & restaurant safety think ice is the easiest way to get sick from a restaurant. According to them very few restaurants follow all the regulations on how to properly handle ice, yet they cannot make it so they can catch the restaurants doing it. Basically they don't wash their hands and or use gloves while handling the ice.
They say the open bins of ice which they dip your cup into or a scoop or those over the drink machine ones which have to be filled with bagged ice are the worst and carry Hepititus and ecoil among other things which can be very dangerous to the very young, very old and the pregnant.
Of course I cannot find any articles at the website of the news station regarding the ice or a list of the sources of their data.
Oh they do say the drink machines which make the ice themselves in closed boxes above the fountain drink machine are safe.
