My dabbling in mythologic poetry
Icarus
Eye to eye with the sun.
They do not tell you--
but my sight went before my wings.
He was angry, and
called me an arrogant youth.
Who am I to think that I
could go eye to eye with the sun?
He gave me chances to raise
my white flag, and lower
my
altitude.
I would hede no such warning,
would not hand him his victory--
and so I continued,
flying eye to eye with the sun.
Heat mattered nor,
nor sciences or atmospheric
pressure; For I was
eye to eye with the sun.
History remembers my fall,
my ocean bottomed plunge--
yet they are quick to forget-
my height.
The fail to remember that it was
my battle, my fight--
that, knowing failure emminent, I fought still;
and that, for me, is enough.
