jk, Fear is not of Christ. If you are honest with youself, and your efforts in Christ. If you have unconditional love for others-- and youself, you are ok.

Remember, God is good, God loves you unconditionally. He will not do anything unjust.
Also remember, the power of Christ's forgiveness.

I would recommend you ponder where this fear is from. I think you may hate yourself, or not giving yourself enough respect. Take pride in yourself, but make every effort to live a life of Christ. SHould you make a mistake, own up to it, fix it so it doesn't happen again.

(Here is what I believe --)

First, honey, do you believe Jesus is Lord?

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

When you believe in the deep core of your being that Jesus is Lord and you confess your belief you absolutely become saved and are heaven bound.

It is a gift. It is a new birth.

Now, your walk after your new birth can determine rewards, but you have the ticket to heaven by believing Romans 10: 9, 10

Do you believe Jesus is Lord? Do you believe God raised him from the dead? If you do say it right now -- outloud to the screen, to the heavens! Tell a buddy.

Believe it and confess your belief!

And you have just got a ticket to the greatest thing going -- heaven to forever be with our Lord Jesus!

Jesus Loves you! He paid the price. And he just handed you a ticket.

No need to doubt. No need to worry about a stop over...

"confession is made unto salvation."

The word "unto" in the greek means all the way to your destination.

Cool word, because if your mother leaves the house and says she is going to the store. You assume she is going to the store, but you do not know if she actually arrives. Her car could breakdown, she could change her mind.... But with the word "unto" it means you leave point A and you absolutely arrive at point B. It would be like your mother calling from the store and saying she absolutely arrived at her destination.

We absolutely arrive.:amen:

Also,

You don't have to go to confession or say hail mary's to go to heaven.

The perfect example: The thief on the cross.
He couldn't go to confession,
he couldn't take communion,
he couldn't be baptised
he couldn't tell everyone how sorry he was and make things right
He never spoke in tongues
he probably didn't make it to church on sundays either.

He was at the end of his life, on the cross paying for his crime. He didn't have a chance to do anything but believe Jesus was lord. And he did that by saying:
"And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom"
He acknowledged Jesus was Lord.

Hope that helps

God Bless you.

Purgatory? There is no such place in the Bible honey!
I have been reading the Bible for 45 years and there is either heaven...or hell. There is no inbetween no matter what anybody tries to tell you. One thing you don't have to worry about is 'purgatory'.
The examples have been put there by Zek!
And...God never gives us a spirit of fear.

Amen to that!

The word does not appear in the concordance nor in my Greek text. It simply seems to have been created by men in a certain denomination to laud the "good works theory" over their followers. So, that you can be afraid you are just "not good enough" to get to heaven. So, maybe if you do more, give more money etc... then you will be worthy of heaven.

This is a lie. An invention of man.

None of us are worthy to go to heaven sweet one, that is why it IS/WAS a gift from God. That is why Jesus did what he did. Otherwise we could be "good" and make it on our own.

Jesus is the way, the only way to heaven. He did it for us.

Ephesians 2 (KJV)
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

(Now, the followers of God in the OT did not have Jesus to believe in. There are some different things discussed over where they end up but this is a post. If you would like to investigate that, I am sure someone will want to in the doctrine section. That is a big study and you might enjoy putting the time into it someday.)

If Jesus is the way, the only way to Heaven... How did the others get to Heaven? It might not have been called purgatory, I might be mistaken but I'll ask the pastor of my church why he feels there was someplace like that, before Jesus came.

Here is the thing,

When I graduated from theology school this was a hot topic and it remains so. Different denominations believe the scriptures show different things.

For if Jesus went to the cross and died for the atonement of men but there are other ways to be saved then his death was not special or necessary.

Some Christians wonder if there is a good person who is really kind but does not believe shouldn’t they still “get in” to heaven? The answer is that God laid out the criteria for all of this and although we may meet a very gentle Buddhist or a gentle agnostic if you believe the whole purpose of the Christ then they do not go to heaven.

Some denominations then believe they go to hell. Others believe they go to “gravedom” and there are early texts in other languages, which seem to suggest that those people then just die and experience no after life good or bad.

These studies are involved and a bit extensive for a post here. You may want to call some Bible colleges and see if you can research this in their libraries until you find an answer you believe God is behind. because the conclusions are different among denominations. Look into the studies on this topic – who knows it may become something you delve into for years. It is interesting.

A lot of denominations believe the OT people get to heaven but not as “sons and daughters” of God but as servants. They get there but there status is different. Then, that generates the questions such as, “Is that fair?” And these questions can really become endless. So, for me, I decided to stop the wheel of questions that just lead to more “whys?” and study “what is” and change my thinking to what I understand the scriptures to be.

Most Christians believe that Jesus is THE way and the ONLY way. I also subscribe to that belief.

So your question, although valid and very real has a very in-depth answer about which theologians disagree. May I suggest to look at the studies and decide which “group” presents the Bible to your understanding the best and worship with them.

I believe:

John 14:

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Unless I am misreading the tone, it appears that I have angered Allieisme.
It might just be the red letters and my wrong interpatation, but I feel I need to say I never meant to stir you negatively.

Sorry, I should have been more clear, I am referring and speaking to the original poster by calling them “sweet one”

You are more than welcome to believe in purgatory. That is your choice. You can believe whatever you wish. Your way of believing "there is a purgatory" does not sit with me as I understand the scriptures. So, as you brought it up I was answering with what I believe , with no ill will intended.

Being as this is an intranet forum, you will have people who do not see eye to eye. That is not meant to disrespect you.
And I meant no disrespect.

However, being as the original poster was afraid of going to purgatory, a place where it seems like most on the thread do not believe exists, then it is essential to bring that up to him. To ease his heart and show him the true gift of Jesus and what Jesus did for him.

My posts where meant to love him. And as your post supported the “purgatory” belief it was brought into a discussion, that was an answer to the original poster.

Just in case I am going to try and share my heart: We disagree. I wish only great blessings from God to be sent your way.

I am sorry if our disagreement hurt you, but as sorry as I am that you may feel hurt, I still disagree with you. No ill will or malice intended.

I am glad you are a believer and you love God. We are family.

You didnt anger me.. My post color is red.. When I said that there was purgatory before Jesus, I got that reference from my pastor, he said that before Jesus, there was no place for Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, ect.. because Jesus had not died for sins yet.
I do not believe there is a purgatory anymore, I believe there are 2 places one to could end up.. Heaven or Hell.
