Weight: 136 lbs.
Eye Color: Gray
Hair Color: Blond

Description: Iakona would most probably be considered a herald of all that is good in the world. He carries no weapon and wears no armor. His clothes are rough, home-spun. His eyes hold a look of power, though there is a sad look about them. He is considered to be a fount of wisdom for all those who cross his path, and he is also rather intelligent, though he doesn’t flaunt either of these. He always uses his natural mental abilities to help others. He is also decently quick, though not exceptionally so. His health is exceptional due to reasons stated below. Unfortunately, Iakona is not strong in the least bit. Scrawny, he can barely lift a full pack, not that he would need to.

If one thought that Iakona was a warrior, one might be led to believe that he was a spiritual warrior, one who uses great magicks to enforce his will. This is only partially true. Iakona, though he has sworn a vow of nonviolence, is a spiritual warrior, though his weapons aren't as apparent. He wages a war of peace, relying on his ability to create healing magicks as well as his vast understanding of more mundane healing. He does not willingly hurt any other creature, and he has also forsworn material possessions.

His presentation of himself as an unarmored target is no illusion. One who puts himself wholly at the mercy of others simply to help others must be vulnerable. He must trust in the one's he heals. The only indication of his membership in his monastic order is a bloodstained cloth, wrapped as a bandanna around his head, which effectively states his purpose and his vulnerability to those he sees.

Iakona's magicks have grown more powerful over the years. He can remove most ailments using his magicks, as well as his extensive knowledge of herbs and other plants. He can also close the wounds, whether external or internal, of others. One thing that many people do not realize is that not all pains are those of the body, and Iakona also tries to remedy those others as well, working as a mediator and diplomat between people(s).

These healing magicks are not without a cost, however. Each pain healed in such a way has an adverse affect on the healer. The healer must suffer the pain of the victim, though usually it is reduced in magnitude. Still, practitioners of this craft build up their constitution so that they can withstand more healing.

Iakona's control over healing magicks is not the only result of his spiritual purity. He literally radiates a field of peace about him, calming those around him. Also, many weapons swung at him find that they do not find their mark, and if they do, many shatter, for an act of violence against one so pure is against nature.

His healing magicks have progressed so far that his natural healing process is faster than normal (about 24 times faster, meaning that something that would usually take someone a day to heal only takes him an hour to do so). This way, he doesn't have to spend his energy using his magicks on himself, instead saving them for others.

Bio: Iakona, though supremely altruistic, is not naive. As a young child, his family was torn apart by violence. Poverty-stricken, he was forced to live on the streets, wandering without any purpose other than to survive.

Finally, a monastic order took him in, feeding him and teaching him. The monks had taken a vow of poverty, and when Iakona reached the time when he could join, he also took the vow, forswearing all but the most basic of possessions, such as rough clothing and a staff. Of all the donations to the order, the majority went back to the people, while only a small portion went toward allowing the monks to eat.

At the time of initiation, Iakona was placed in the care of another senior member of the name Jace. It was from Jace that Iakona learned the basic tenets of healing, both magickal and mundane. They traveled together, student and teacher, both helping the poor and healing the sick.

One day, as the pair was traveling through a town, there was a violent brawl in the city square. Jace and Iakona rushed to aid those who were wounded. As they rushed through the crowd, Jace was struck down by one of the raging combatants attempting to finish off the other one who was nearly unconscious. Iakona healed the two men, and then rushed to his master's side, but it was too late. The scant healing magicks that Iakona had left were no match for the profusely bleeding wound. Even on his deathbed, Jace refused to give up his beliefs. As a last request, he asked Iakona in the hoarse voice of a dying man, to swear a vow of nonviolence towards all creatures. Crying at losing his only guide he'd had in life, Iakona agreed to what the man's last request would be.

Continuing on his travels, he healed all the sick and wounded that he came across, and through his virtue, the power of his spiritual magicks grew in power, as did his capacity to withstand such physical punishment. His spiritual purity grew with every pain consumed. This spiritual growth began to have an effect on those around Iakona, calming them and turning their thoughts toward goodness. It also protected him against those who could resist the calm and still wished him harm, as weapons usually either missed, or shattered on impact.

Breakdown of Abilities:

24x natural healing
Calming presence
Control of healing magicks
Oath not to harm other living creatures
Oath not to own anything but the basics needed to survive and help others
Enhanced wisdom and intelligence
Spiritual purity (most weapons break on impact)

Notes:

Healing channels positive energies, though not necessarily holy energy. Of course, this energy is harmful to undead since they are usually powered by negative energies from the netherworld. Still, repetitive use of these positive energies can change a person's outlook on life for the better.

Also, while Iakona has strictures against harming living creatures, he has none against harming dead things, or things that were neither living nor dead. However, as a rule, Iakona tries not to resort to force. If the undead creature, or some other creature that is not necessarily alive, but is still intelligent, Iakona will give them the benefit of the doubt and a chance for redemption. If deemed absolutely necessary, he will resort to force with these creatures. If such a creature is obviously unintelligent, Iakona will attempt to bypass it peacefully, or, if it poses a significant threat to others, attempt to stop it. An example of this would be the zombie attempting to eat the brains of the townsfolk or a golem rampaging through the countryside.

Also, Iakona isn’t limited simply to healing magicks that cure illnesses of the body. He also has a limited access to good spells, many of which deal with the healing of mental and spiritual ailments. One such spell would be one that cleanses evil creatures truly seeking redemption.

One last thing: The casting of healing spells requires a willful touch. The channeling of the energy ignores armor and other forms of physical defense, but it cannot be channeled through a weapon that strikes Iakona.

Edit: This is something I forgot to insert earlier, but probably won't have any significance anyway. Iakona does not need to eat, sleep, or breathe. Concerning his magical powers, Iakona still needs to be in a restful state for a good period of time before he may refresh his spells. Also, Iakona may attempt to banish fiends (demons) in his prescence, though he may not always succeed, depending on how powerful the fiend is. Fiends banished in this way are not harmed (obviously), but they are sent back to where they came from and forced to stay there for 100 years.
