• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hey Ya'll,

I was in counseling for about 10 months for my eating disorder, I was also on meds for it. Now I am doing none of those and for the most part doing fine (its been about 6 weeks without meds and 3 weeks no counseling). I just wonder if you all think I should still be in counseling or not, 10 months does not seem very long for 5 years of bulimia, but I feel stronger, I feel confident, and I dont think about it too much anymore....if I am tempted I try to dismiss the feelings as soon as possible.

I am getting married in 16 months too and this is not something that I want to bring into my marriage, even though my fiance is my #1 non-professional support.

Thanks for any input.

Good on you!!! I guess my only advice would be if you find yourself struggling again, don't be afraid to go back to counselling. (I know that sometimes pride can make this hard) but if you need any support, make the sure you get all of it you can!!!
My prayers are with you as you continue fighting foward in this journey,
Love & prayers always

I'm not afraid, I just dont know how long I am supposed to be in counseling at the beginning. My fiance asked if I was going to get back into counseling when I went back to school. I had to tell him that I dont know and that I would see. Thats what brought all this on.

Monica,
You know if you are strong enough to deal without help. I think you are doing very well, just know that if you do need the help that it is available. Congrtulations on your engagement! I understand you not wanting to go into your marrige with an ed. I too am getting married soon and need desperatly to recover completely before we do marry. I was married before and still very much in my ed and it was not good at all. This time I want to be well!
Love,
Saleta
