  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was not effected by the Passion of the Christ. At all.

As you can tell, I'm an atheist. I'm also 13 years old. When I saw the movie, my stomach didn't hurt, I didn't cry, I didn't star in shock, I didn't feel changed. In fact, I ate a chocolate bar, had a bit of popcorn, and enjoyed a nice Fishermans Friend while watching this movie. The only way I can say this movie changed my life is that I had heard that if you put a Fishermans Friend in between your bottom gum, it lasts longer and works better. When I watched this movie, I acheived that. It also lasted long and worked great.

Anyhoo, I'm not sure if it's just me, or it's because I'm an atheist.

Big deal. Anyone can decide to be unaffected. Yeah, I was an atheist at 13 too. Wait until you are around for a while.

Since I don't have anything much constructive to say, I'd just like to point out that you weren't AFFECTED by the movie at all. But as an indirect result of it you hopefully learned that affect is a verb and effect is a noun (...usually), so I guess that's an effect it had on you.

Decide? The way you react to something isn't a choice, it's a respondance of your personal self. For instance, I didnm't just CHOOSE to get ****ed of.

And secondly thats saying we can choose what we beleive, and somewhat implying, perhaps not purposly, that I'm rebeling or something.

No, not really. I'm just shocked at myself. I'm wondering if I'm some cold hearted freak.
A man died for you. You don't appreciate that at all? You could so easily go to Heaven and have eternal life. Is that not something good?

I'm an atheist. To be honest, I think Jesus was a great man, very well he may have been the greatest man who ever lived.

He also may have been insane. I'm sorry if you takr that as blasphemy, but that's what I beleive.

And I don't beleive in heaven and hell at all. When I watched that movie I didn't see a man dying for me, I saw a man being killed unfairly. And I can't just suddenly say ' Bingy bing bing! I'll beleive in god now!' I'm not an atheist by choice.

No I'm not. My atheism is a reaction of my life experiences plus a new event or knowledge.

Heres a little thing to help you understand beleifs.

Experience + knowledge = Beleifs

I mean, when I heard this whole god thing, I laughed out load, my experience of things just didn't seem to make the god thing logical. I mean, satan in the bible became who he was because he chose. so did everyone else in the bible. Why? Because god appeared all the time. An people rejected god, after seeing him and talking to god. I do not understand the logic of those people. If god came down and spoke to us and showed himself, I would beleive in god.

OK first of all, I'm not AGAINST god. I don't beleive in god. And seeing as it so easy to change beleifs, become a muslim right now. And don't tell me you don't want to. You can become a christian right afterwards. Go ahead. Beleive Allah is the one true god. Beleive that Muhammed is the prophet of god.

Why would I? I believe God is the one true God. He is the only God I need. Why believe in such false gods when I know who the real One is?

You are choosing to go against Him by not believing in Him. If you don't believe in God then are you for Him? I don't think so...

Amen Kris!

God gave us free will. He chooses all of us to be with Him some day in heaven, it is us who either choose Him or go our own direction. God gave us freewill. Life experience has nothing to do with religion.

Belief

  1. The mental act, condition, or habit of placing trust or confidence in another.
  2. Mental acceptance of and conviction in the truth, actuality, or validity of something.
  3. Something believed or accepted as true, especially a particular tenet or a body of tenets accepted by a group of persons.

No where in there do I see life experience.

I would have to say the non-effect is in itself a testament to your faith.
You have resolved not to be moved by all things theistic... and you are achieving that goal. You are walking true to your faith!

I believe Mr. Spader is just a troll saying anything he thinks will get a reaction. I don't think he is actually 13, but he acts like it. IMHO, he also uses the English language like someone who never payed attention in class.

A) I'm not trying to be a troll, I assure you.
B) I am indeed 13
C) If you don't like my way of talking, too bad. I type how I talk.

Not really. I didn't cry, but I felt pretty bad for Jesus. What happened to him was wrong and evil.
