I Was Hoping to See More Here

Still have no weapons beside a small crossbow for snakes and small game. I am considering a mossburg(sp?) shotgun just for general shooting purposes. I have heard and it is likely true that 3 months after the stuff hits the fan, there will be no more game left up in them thar hills so I do not plan on hunting to keep me going. We just plan on lying low for the first 3 months or so... hide the preps and wait for the masses to simply die out. I might be wrong but I suspect the vast majority of the population will simply fade away by starvation, disease, riot, and simple exposure. Sad but true... our culture is addicted to easy-street. Most are just not going to make it.

I believe that critical time will require some defense for yourself and your family. I would look HERE for the Mossberg which pulls double duty for hunting and home defense, HERE for .22, HERE for hunting/self defense, and a good quality handgun. If you are only going to do one, I would suggest the Mossberg Shotgun linked above.

Bugging out. The wife and I are 62 and 63. Won't be doing any bugging out or trudging through the woods. Long range plans include turning my son's off road house and 10 acres into a retreat for the family. It may come to that. An EMP will ruin a lot of people's plans. Most cars will be useless. I used to have a 65 Ford truck that I so wish I had kept. So many things will stop working. Logically this is the route any enemy would take... that and cyber attacks. Of all the things that could happen... I would say EMP would be #1 on the list. Get a Faraday cage and tons of rechargeable batteries and some solar battery chargers if you want small electronics to work.
Just rambling. In the end do what you can and then trust the Lord. I do not worry for us... we have had a pretty good life and are leaving children and grandchildren. I have a couple dozen books that will live on... so we are at peace. Come Lord Jesus.

Thanks Pres... I was at our youngest son's house and he pulled out his Mossburg and it looks like a pretty good weapon. I have not even shot a weapon since 1977 or so. Of course we trained with the M16 in basic training and I carried a .38 because we transferred the Minuteman launch and target codes to the silos out in ND. This was in the early 70s.
You would be yet another good neighbor to have in the post stuff hits the fan world! If the Lord gathers His people together after the zero event... strong people with strong faith will be the most important thing. People in the world have no hope in their hearts.. that means no courage and no character that would drive them to survive. Civilizations, I think get that way. Hopeless people are Lemmings who just give up and.... well, die.

I think we have similar views regarding the rapture and tribulation. I'm not convinced there is a rapture of the church either. From my reading of The Word, I tend to believe it may be mid-tribulation. I do not expect The Lord will subject His people to the bowl judgments however, it is ridiculous in my mind that we should believe there are no difficult times ahead. There are Christians being persecuted worldwide in horrific ways right now. I think sometimes Christian Americans just can't believe it could happen to us here BUT I believe judgement is coming to America. A country blessed and founded on His principles cannot mock Him and not expect the consequences of that to come to fruition. (Romans 1:18-32) Throughout the Bible He has judged even those designated His people because of disobedience. Why is America so special not to be subjected to judgment? The Lord raises people up for those days and times and my prayer is we will always want to be connected with Him and inside His will. I see Christian prepping as planning to take care of my family. Not just my wife and son but my mother, my wife's parents, and others.
