I have a full time job in a multinational corporation doing a relatively low profile job that gives me little day to day satisfaction, especially none of the spiritual sort that I can feel proud of myself for.

I'd really like to make a living doing something for the Lord. What are my options?

Some basic background on me is that I don't have any college degree and I was saved ten years ago, but fell into Wicca shortly after. While in Wicca I was an "ordained minister" but I never did anything with it besides assist the minister in some weddings. I felt called to lead others of my faith when I was a Wiccan, and I feel the same calling now that I have renewed my dedication to Christ.

I just don't know where to start. I feel that I have a message to give to others, and I want to spend my days making a difference for the Lord, not making a multi-billion dollar corporation even richer.

Seek Jesus with all your heart. Leading people to Jesus is much different than deceiving people into turning to wicca. Jesus is truth, which is the exact opposite. You say that you are wanting to be able to feel proud of yourself. But as followers of Jesus we are told to set aside our pride. We are told to actually die to ourselves. As we die to ourselves and our desires we are surrendering control to God. It is only through God that we are able to make a difference for His kingdom. When we are in close relationship to God we begin to discover that God's love and the Holy Spirit is the driving force behind ministry. But I want to suggest that God might have you in the particular company you are in for a specific reason. There are opportunities to share God's love and grace with the people in your company and your customers. All believers are called to ministry. You can make a difference right where you are. Certainly it is possible that God is calling you elsewhere, but He can definitely use you for His kingdom right where you are currently. Stay hungry to know Him more and constantly seek Him and you'll be surprised with what God does in your life!

In Christ!

Yes, just like Jesus set an example of self-less service by always giving glory to His father, whenever He did something, so should we. It's just one of the principles of God's kingdom.

But if you understand that, I think the next step would be to discover your spiritual gifts. I can totally connect with your feelings about wanting to accomplish something for God's kingdom, rather than spending all your life working for a corporation.

Is there something you noticed you received the ability to do, after being saved? Something others perhaps said you are doing well? Sometimes God even gives us work employing the natural talents we have since birth, as long as they are used in the right way.

I read your post earlier this morning; it has stuck with me all day. First I hope you are attending a good bible teaching church with a strong discerning pastoral staff. Since you were once involved with Wica hopefully you understand Satan isn’t going to let go of you too easily, but I’m sure you are aware of that.

What struck me the deepest is that you stated that you felt you had a message to share and you may very well have. Satan is the deceiver, if whatever you feel you have make sure it lines up with scripture and especially what Jesus taught us.

It is my belief that one must come into the ministry with a servant’s heart and then be completely open to the leadership of the Holy Spirit. There are many lay people that do tremendous work for the Lord. A ministry is not our ministry it belongs to the Lord and we are merely His servants.

If you want to work for the LORD and are serious about dying to yourself, then google 'The Dutiful Servant of God' PDF. A wonderful Christian Growth Resource provided by @noamisgrowth which has been a blessing in my life and those of many others.

God Bless you and meditate on Psa 91 - for it is the key to abiding in the safest place God reserved for His children.

Meditate also on (Gen 1:26; Psa 1:1-3; Matt 4:23-24; Matt 28:18-20; John 12:24; Acts 5:42; Rom 8:28-30)

Everyone above has given excellent advice. I believe I have been called to hospital Chaplaincy. I've been blessed with a wonderful pastor to guide me. I began returning to faith about 4 years ago, and only just last month was able to identify my gift (empathy). I frequently find pride/ego sneaking into my thoughts and have to remind myself that everything is in service of the Lord. Over the last couple weeks, I've started to share my intentions with my family and started a blog. I've been very anxious about telling those closest to me about my calling and gift, to the point of tears. I been receiving creative inspirations faster than I can finish projects. I get so excited with my finished crafts but then immediately feel that they are not for me to keep. Maybe some of this is part of "dying to yourself." I hope hearing my story might help in some way.

" what so ever you do , do it as unto the Lord and not men , knowing that you shall receive a reward from the Lord "

I do not remember where I read that in the NT , but we can serve the Lord in the things that we think are not so important , the important thing is to serve the Lord in all things .
Then we may or may not get a call to a higher trusting work. If faithful in the little things . The Lord is more concerned with our heart for Him , than what we are doing for Him.

We do not all get to do the things we think would be most honorable unto the Lord , but it is his work ,plan , etc , not ours .

There are qualifications in the Bible for pastors , elders , etc . make sure that you are qualified first .

My main point is we can serve the Lord doing the mundane , to some of us that is all that is available ...

"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

Matthew 25:40

Consider this a test to see if you are ready. I don't want anybody else here, but the OP to answer his question as what to do next, based upon this line of scripture being pointed out.

Since it's been several months and no one's answered, can we now get a bit more explanation as to what you were expecting? What did you mean by test and "ready"? How did you feel the line of scripture posted related?

What struck me the deepest is that you stated that you felt you had a message to share and you may very well have.

What was the message?
