• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Good for you. I don't want to get some horrible disease. I haven't had one in 5 days. I'm just trying to get through one day at a time. I talk myself out of them and I have had some lozenges and gum and a few patches but not many. I am going to chew freedent when the other patch is gone. I'm praying for you. You are helping yourself and others. God bless you.

I need help and prayer in the worst way. I have tried cold turkey, praying, wellbutron....I feel pretty helpless. I am 39 and want to stop bad to increase my life I have left here on earth for my family. Any prayers and suggestions would be nice. Thanks.

We struggle with things like this in life seeking a way out. I remember reading from "Eat to Live" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman about smoking problems. He suggest that making the body very healthy will help a person to stop the habit. You might want to try his book and lifestyle changes. I wish the best for you.

I was sold on Jesus Christ very early in life. Later, I have included the wisdom of Dr. Joel Fuhrman's advice for my body's health. I have enjoyed (to me) great Christian singers like Don Francisco and Keith Green. I have married a wonderful and beautiful soul, my wife and have been blessed with two unique loving sons. With God, we can be very blessed, be patient and keep praying and trying.

I used the patch faithfully over 16 weeks as directed, chewed on cinnamon toothpicks (which really helped) and called friends when needed for support. My husband was also a smoker and although he smoked outside the house and tried to keep his cigs locked in his truck he still reeked and would go out after a meal to smoke.
It was hard, I had to take it one moment, sometimes one second at a time but slowly the urge relented and my mind went to other things rather than what I was denying myself. I focused on fresh air, new scents, less coughing, I have not had nearly the allergies this year and no laryngitis since stopping!
Hang in there, it can be done, focus on what you are gaining not losing.

I went for awhile without smoking and now am going to try to quit again. I have the ecig and am going to get the filters with no nicotine in them. Please pray for me, too. I am praying for all of you to keep the cigs at bay one molecule at a time.
