• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I Want To Leave The Addiction Of Games On Web

To avoid playing porn games on web, I spend too much time on playing general games on web. Yesterday I played 3D Tanks games in 7 hours. I feel guilty.

I need good habit in stead of bad habit. Maybe I can play games on CF Games Forums in control. When I fall in temptation of this kind of addiction later I can open this page to remind me not do so.

Please pray for me that I can pay more attention to God and others so I would leave the addiction like it. Thanks. :prayer:

Hello Yusuphhai,

Addictions are never easy to overcome. They take time, prayer, and spiritual growth.

The good news is that you can see the chains that bind you. You have confessed that you have one or more addictions. That is a step in the right direction. =)

From my experience some addictions(if not all) form because they make up for the lack of something in a person's life. Or a void that within the heart, and a person needs something to run or escape from how it makes them feel.

When I first started out I wanted to be free from my porn addiction and do anything to break free from it. The Lord gave me a different strategy though. He was going to help me break free from it, but first he wanted to start small. He wanted me to deal with the smaller problems(dysfunctions) first, then leading up to the bigger ones. I visualize it much like fried onion blossom. God worked with me to peal out the smaller outer layers, which would bring the bigger layers clearly into view. The more layers God helped me to over come, my addictive urges begin to become less.

An addiction is a battlefield. Every time you stubble, it becomes an opportunity to learn your weaknesses. Or how the devil been tripping you up. Just remember though, every time you stubble the Devil will make you feel guilty. Do not listen to the guilt, because it is cause to crush you. God brings conviction, which helps you build yourself up, not guilt to tear you down. Learn to discern who is speaking over you.

Lastly, God can help give you wisdom.

James 1:5-8
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.

The Lord will encourage you and give you guidance on how to overcome your addictions. Hold on to Jesus and allow him to train you up to become an overcomer in Christ!

Yeah the addiction of games on web is only a superficies. I have much more psychological inner problems. Even if I get rid of the addiction of games, I may fall into another addiction. I am a patient of bipolar disorder, I have some obstacles to take part in some general Christian Church in China, I feel lonely and helpless, I have to work for keeping myself, I have never married etc. It is not easy to solve all the inner problems.

But fortunately I have faced the problems bravely and would like to receive the help form God and others. I can also build up my life by the healthy habit and hobbies. It may be a slow long time.

Thank all of you who care me and give advice.
