Yup, a dance studio is the way to go. Try some beginners group lessons first. They're usually cheap and you'll get a few basic steps down that you can use on the dance floor pretty quickly.

Many studios have free practice dances once a week where you can try out what you've learned. You can also supplement lessons with DVDs from Amazon.com or Ballroomdancers.com or similar. Or check your library. The call numbers should be about 792 or 793, I think.

Sometimes the park district or YMCA will offer dance classes that are taught by the same people that teach at studios.

If you want to get up the learning curve most quickly, private lesson are the way to go. But they're not cheap - $55 to $65 per hour where I take mine in Chicago.

dance studio deffinately. They run through basics such as rhythm, catching the beat etc. I suppose me naming dance studios is of no use to you, but it is pretty easy to find local studios from google.
Dont worry about not knowing how to dance, everyone starts somewhere. I started 5 years ago and when I started I must have been one of the worst dancers ever (actually i wouldnt say it was dancing). But as with all things enjoy it, practice it and more practice. Lessons teach you how to do it, but its up to you to learn it hehe.
I wish you luck in finding a dance studio.
