  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey all!

I'll put it simply: I want to do something! :p

I know how to crochet - my Granny taught me how when I was little. But I can't ever do but a big long crochet chain. :p

And I am looking for some hobbies. I'd like to be the sort of person who knows how to knit, crochet, sew, quilt, etc.

How do I get started?! :D

Thanks! ^_^

For knitting and crocheting there are lots of online sources. Try googling "crochet (or knitting) intructions". There are also lots of how-to books out for just about any craft -- check at the library. Yarn shops, fabric stores and craft shops often offer classes in different crafts -- from simple to not so simple.

start at your local library. go to the crafts section and look for any book that has the word 'beginning' in the title.

second thing you can do is to find crafting groups online. try the yahoo groups for a place to begin.
one quilting board that i know of that also has members who knit, crochet, sew, garden, and quilt is www.quiltsyourway.com.

and if there's anything you want to know about quilting, I'm only a PM away and I'll be very glad to help.
